Charleston interior designer Matthew Bees posted this wonderful space - side porches in Charleston are called piazzas which comes from the 17th century Italian term for "open space."
It is wonderful inspiration for furnishing an indoor/outdoor room. Note the lantern and the palm ceiling fixture (is that a fan or lighting?), the wicker tray, lots of plants in blue and white Chinese porcelain cachepots, navy and white striped curtains, and navy skirted tables. I especially like the coral garden stools. I love the color palette of navy and white with pops of coral.
Here are options for incorporating some of these ideas in your own lanai, or veranda, or porch, or piazza, or whatever you call your indoor/outdoor space.
If you are looking for outdoor curtains, these come in lengths up to 10', are made from Sunbrella, and are very well priced.
Any guesses on the palm ceiling fixture? I am guessing it is a lighting fixture as I have not seen a fan with blades bent down like that. I doubt it would be functional. In this Amanda Lindroth bedroom, we all decided this is a lighting fixture. Whether a fan or lighting, I would love to find something like this for CCC.

It looks like two ceiling fixtures with a lantern in front of a palm fan. Love all the coral. Another great post, Beth.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm seeing too.
DeleteIt does look like a ceiling fan, but I have looked at thousands of ceiling fans and have not found a single one with the blades bending like that. And that would really dramatically decrease the air flow. It is a mystery.
DeleteYou've posted that Amanda Lindroth bedroom before, Beth, and I just love everything about it - the white shutters, the window seat, the coral and pink, (coral and pink are my two favorite colors), the rattan lamp shades and bed frames. It's just yummy! I would be very, very happy if this were my bedroom. Fun post.
ReplyDeleteYes, I posted it again because the ceiling fixture is similar to the piazza one. I love the room too.
Deletelove the ceiling light fixture!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could track it down.
