In the Pink

Old Crow Painting

I came across this dramatic coral pink house with Chinese Chippendale railing and black and white trim and had to share it. It is painted in Sherwin Williams Begonia.

I love pink houses, but in gated communities like mine, there are generally rules on this sort of thing. Where I live, there are rules on top of rules on top of rules and a pink house would never fly. I had to lobby just to get the whites I wanted approved. The Architectural Review Committee doesn't think there is anything but beige. I am super excited about painting my house - I think it will be stunning, but maybe someday I will have a pink house.

Here is another pink stunner - the Palm Beach home of interior designer Robin Weiss in Benjamin Moore Ballet Slippers. I love this house.

OK guys, a Sherwin Williams exterior paint question - Duration or Emerald? Both get amazing reviews.

This is a beautiful home that although way larger, is the look I am going for with my home. Gorgeous! The roof color is close to mine and it has white French doors and trim and lots of coral pink flowers all like my home. A very classic and timeless Old Florida look. (But my tile roof is clean unlike this one - LOL).

And thank you so much for all your input on my kitchen appliances. I am sold on getting a Bosch dishwasher, LG French door refrigerator and induction range - perhaps the range in the Café in Matte White, but I want to explore the choices in induction ranges. You guys were very helpful.

I am a huge football fan and there were two playoff games back to back yesterday late afternoon and evening so I wanted a yummy but super easy to prepare dinner. This takes 5 minutes of prep time.

Make a baked potato however you wish - in the oven or microwave. Slash open and season with sea salt - I love this smoked sea salt SO much. Use it on steaks, fish, grilled vegetables, a Bloody Mary, the list goes on and on. Read my post here on how to use this wonderful salt.

Top with dollops of creme fraiche or sour cream and caviar. I always keep a couple jars of the red and black lumpfish caviar in my pantry. Instant gourmet dinner! This is also easy peasy for entertaining with a great steak and salad.

My Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on today at 3 pm. Go Bucs! Stuffed jalapeños and homemade guacamole with chips are on the menu.

  1. I recommend the Emerald line in SW exterior paint. It covers beautifully and really lasts.

  2. Number one reason I could never live in a gated community.

    1. I had never lived in one and had the same attitude. But in this area, the vast majority of nicer homes are in gated communities The upside I have learned is enormous.

I have golf, an Olympic size salt water pool, tennis, pickle ball, a fitness center, and clubhouse. The gate is guarded by a real person for guests and security. Everyone has to keep up their homes and does - with letters for any lapse. Palms are pruned and mulched, streets power washed, everything is stunningly beautiful.

When I was house hunting and looked at non-gated neighborhoods, I learned why to stay away. I saw a house that was gorgeous in the listing - the next door neighbor had a pick up truck, another vehicle on blocks on the lawn, and at least 20 political signs and flags - this was during the 2020 election. Or you see houses not kept up, or painted hideous colors, the list goes on and on. Florida at least has all types of folks in great abundance, and a gated community is a perfect little nest where you are spared all of that if you want to be. I do.

  3. The Begonia house is stunning. That color would be challenging to pull off for many. Whomever the person is who chose those colors must be an expert, because it all comes together beautifully. I absolutely adore that Robin Weiss house, and I recall that you have posted about it before. I happen to love pink too. Ballet Slippers appears so soft when looking at the sample, but makes much more of a statement when seen on the house's exterior. It's amazing how color registers so much more intensely once it's actually applied to a surface.

Can you please give me some advise in the caviar department, as this is totally unfamiliar territory to me? I'm anxious to hear which LG fridge you choose, and your opinion. For some time, I've been interested in the one that makes the craft ice. Thanks Beth. Looking forward to your remodel.

    1. Great starter caviar is salmon caviar - wonderful but not cost prohibitive. Serve on warm blinis with creme fraiche.

Have you looked at the LG that has the door in door and makes craft ice? Intriguing. But if you read the reviews, the craft ice comes out smaller than is normal with a divot on the side likened to a Star Wars Death Star. And it makes only 3 a day. It's quite an expensive upgrade and doesn't make craft ice as nice as a $10 mold that makes 6 at a time. I have not ruled it out, but I have always preferred the visual of A French door fridge with nothing on the exterior. But water on the outside is nice especially with 2 dogs whose water bowls I am always refreshing.

    2. For heaven's sake - three pieces of ice a day is definitely a non-starter, and I don't need to be serving my guests, or myself for that matter, Star Wars Death Star ice! Thanks for letting me know, and I will try the salmon caviar.

    3. They will likely improve the ice cubes with future models, but right now they are small and misshapen.

  4. I thought Florida was all about pink houses! I would love to have one, but I live in a historic district and we are also restricted on what colors we may use.

    1. True on the east coast of Florida like Palm Beach and Coral Gables. I am on the west coast where things are more casual and neutral. And Bermuda of course has lots of pink.

  5. The white house is very definitely beautiful. What style of architecture would you say that is? It's symmetrical and has a somewhat classical look to it.

  6. I have a Samsung refrigerator french door in stainless. It is completely clean, no water function on the front. I love it. It fits under my cabinet too.
