The Navy Chinoiserie Powder Room

Jenkins Baer Interiors

I love every single thing about this powder room. Gracie chinoiserie wallpaper, navy blue walls and woodwork, wainscoting, a sputnik chandelier, that herringbone floor!!!!, a gray dupioni silk roman shade, and that stunning sink are all wonderful. I am sending this to my daughter for her files. Their new Annapolis home is a Georgian Colonial and this powder room is a perfect mix of modern, mid century, and traditional.

Do you have a favorite navy paint color? I don't know what was used here, but I always return to Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. It is such a classic, timeless color that works everywhere. A navy blue room is a perfect kickoff to the Memorial Day weekend.

I have a truckload of river rock coming tomorrow to refresh two of my large garden beds. My landscape refresh is in full gear and the garden is looking lovely.

  1. My favorite navy is Ben Moore's "Old Navy." It's slightly darker and slighter bluer than Hale Navy. I have Old Navy in my dining room above White Dove wainscoting and it's wonderful with all the blue and white porcelains I have on display.

    1. Old Navy is a great navy blue. Hale Navy has a lot of gray in it.

  3. We used BM Van Deusen blue in my son's nursery and it was such a pretty navy.
I was inspired by the walls in the Greek and Roman Gallery in the Art Institute of Chicago.

    1. That is a great color - it is lighter and has green in it.

  4. Two of my all time faves are: Black Sea by Porters Paints (so sophisticated and balanced) and Club Navy by Ralph Lauren.

    1. There is a Porters Paints store right in Venice.
