Rarely do I see a room that captures precisely my taste. This is definitely it. I would not change a single solitary thing about it. Let's look at all the amazing elements.
*A pink velvet sofa with bullion fringe - it is actually a corner sofa - see the photo below. I ain't calling this a sectional - LOL. The fabric and trim are Mary McDonald for Schumacher.

*The walls are covered in fabric - Schumacher's Great Barrier Reef.
*That incredible pair of Singerie Blanc de Chine monkeys.
*Layered rugs - a black and white stripe over seagrass matting.*Palm frond lighting fixture.
*The pale green ceiling.
* A lucite coffee table.
*The oversized faux bamboo sconces.
*The zebra - I am still searching for one of these guys.
*Wicker.
*Seashells.
*Orchids.
This is the perfect color palette of pink and green with touches of black to ground it and a mix of chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, Palm Beach, island style.
This room is featured in a wonderful interior design book - S is for Style:The Schumacher Book of Decoration.
PS - I found another shot of this room and you can catch a peek of a Slim Aarons photo "Sea Drive" above the mantel.

Warm and inviting, rugs make a huge difference. Just ordered this book.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful book.

Me too.
DeleteDo you think that fixture on the ceiling is a fan? Looks pretty close to bumping the ceiling as it spins, but I like it, even if its only a light fixture!

No, I think the position and shape of the fronds would indicate it is a light fixture as I said.
DeleteIt's wonderful and I love it's whimsical quality, but the ceiling color, ceiling fixture and green etagere makes it seem a bit "off" to me. Is that just my personal taste, or am I missing something?
ReplyDeletePerhaps both - LOL.
DeleteANY IDEA OF WHO MAKES THE GREEN CEILING FAN/LIGHT ?
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't sorry. Note I did not use all caps.
DeleteI agree it's perfection. There's a zebra just simitolar the one shown that I saw on my liveauctioneers search today but it's life sized and in the Northeast. The shipping would be prohibitive. All the elements of the room are things I love. I would plop myself down with a book and never leave.
ReplyDeleteI agree. As for the zebra, I really like to see things in person and as you said, shipping on large items is insanely expensive.
DeleteThanks - I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteI also love seeing this room. One of my favorites too. I love everything about it! Great job pointing everything out.
ReplyDeletelove the wall paper!!
ReplyDeleteMe too - did you see it is fabric? So pretty.
DeleteThis is all so lovely but those monkeys make my heart skip a beat!
ReplyDeleteThey are my favorite things in the room.
DeleteThat pink sofa makes me want to sell my house and start completely new with tons of that fabric. Also that wallpaper, probably.
ReplyDeleteI have a pink velvet sofa in my study that I love.
