Diane von Furstenberg Launch Overnight

Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress

Diane von Furstenberg created her wrap dress in the 1970s. After selling five million wrap dresses, von Furstenberg became a face of women's liberation, appearing on the cover of Newsweek. The iconic wrap dress is easy to wear, versatile, and timeless.

The printed jersey wrap dress is stylish, feminine, and, most importantly, practical. It gave women the freedom to dress with ease while looking sophisticated and put-together. Through its soft and body-molding fit, it provided professional empowerment and personal freedom. Five decades later and the wrap is still around.

I bought my first wrap dress in law school and aways felt great wearing it. While most women in law school and at work (I went to law school in DC and many of us had part time and summer jobs at law firms and federal agencies) wore navy blue suits with white blouses trying to dress like our male counterparts, I never did.

I would wear a great dress like my DVF wrap dress with a blazer and loved the look. Well, this iconic brand has a collaboration with Target that launched at 3 a.m. Eastern time online and at stores today. I originally posted this last evening at 6 p.m. to give everyone a head's up about the 3 a.m. launch knowing many things would sell out overnight and updated this post this morning. Finding pieces at stores with these hot collaborations can be hit or miss, so order online with free shipping on orders of $35 if shipping is available on pieces you want. And keep checking back, items will reappear.

The collection is huge - over 250 pieces including apparel, accessories, intimates, and activewear, as well as home decor, nail polish, mommy and me, baby clothes, and even made-to-order furniture, all covered in legacy prints as well as new patterns. Most pieces are under $50.

See the entire collection here.

  1. Both wrap dresses at Target are out of stock. (sigh) They are hard to find and that includes true wrap skirts. I am constantly on the lookout and regret donating my 2 wrap dresses years ago. Thanks for this post.

  3. My daughter scored a mini “wrap dress” for my baby granddaughter so now we are three generation Von Furstenberg girls. She actually met DVF at a Nieman Marcus affair and showed her a photo of me wearing my first DVF wrap dress from the late 70’s. It was white with large leopard like spots and had long sleeves with cuffs. Diane said she was looking to revive that print!
