The Chinoiserie Front Door - You Choose

Black in High Gloss
Here are my four choices for paint colors for my Chinoiserie front door - high gloss black, coral, blue, and pink. I added the pink to the original three, I thought it was so pretty with the blue and white Chinese porcelain. Please leave a comment if you would like to vote.

Greek Key Shower Door

The Greek Key Door

Forget the model, check out that Greek key door!

The Chinoiserie Front Door - Pink?

I received a comment yesterday from someone who is going to paint their front door pink. It got me thinking how this would look, especially with an infusion of Chinoiserie. Also, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought it would be fun to look at some pink front doors. This is not an official addition to my own front door choices of coral, black, and blue, but I do like it. I especially like it on the Palm Springs home two down with the pair of agave. What do you think?

A side note. We made it through Superstorm Sandy untouched, although millions of others did not, including blogger friends. My best to everyone recovering from this.

Chinese Icon Note Cards

These are so cute - a set of Chinese icon note cards - 2 each of a navy pagoda, mulberry lantern, orange foo dog, and jade golden gate. At $10, buy one for yourself and several for holiday gifts.

Pink and Navy Chinoiserie

Love the combination of pink and navy blue Chinoiserie as much as I do? Group a few of these on a couch or bed to transform the room in minutes. All of these and many more are available from The Pink Pagoda's accessories store.

The Chinoiserie Front Door - Blue?

As you know, I have been thinking about a new paint color for my front door. We have already looked at coral and high gloss black. The final option I am considering is blue.

I think blue is a fantastic choice for a front door color and very underused. Isn't this a great look above with its navy blue door, blue and white planters, and Chinese Chippendale woodwork above this very elaborate front door?

Here are other wonderful blue choices including pale blue, robin egg blue, and Chinese blue. I like the idea of either a light blue or a very dark blue, not that medium Williamsburg blue you often see. Hollandlac Brilliant paint that I like so much has two great blues - Blue Horizon and Navy Blue shown below.

This light blue door is such a lovely color

Love this color blue

Would I be brave enough to paint my garage door light blue too?

Halloween, Frankenstorm, and The Chinoiserie Front Door

I won first prize last night at my Little Shop of Horrors Halloween Party. That's me in the middle dressed as Audrey 2 with my daughter and one of my interior design clients. I won a dinner and night at my favorite hotel in Alexandria, the Morrison House. I am now off to batten down the hatches of my garden before Hurricane Sandy moves in. It's already quite windy here. If we have power tomorrow, we will look at my third and last choice for my front door paint color. This is an interior Chinoiserie door at Claydon House, but WOW! We will be looking at choices for a blue front door.

Frankenstorm

I adore Halloween and was looking forward to three great Halloween events starting tonight. At the doggie Howloween party scheduled for Tuesday (where my dog has won most glamorous three years), my daughter, dog, and I were going as geishas this year.

Looks like it will be cancelled as we brace here on the East coast for Frankenstorm. In the last two years here in DC we had a winter with the most snow in history, an earthquake, a hurricane, and a derecho. We are now preparing for what could be another "perfect storm."

Here are some pictures of our past winning costumes as "Most Glamorous - The Dog That Shows Her Inner Diva."
