My Favorite Chinoiserie Dressing Room

Aerin Lauder
This week, in honor of my 3 year blog anniversary, I am looking back at some of my all time favorites. Yesterday, we looked at my favorite Chinoiserie bedroom by Miles Redd. Today's pick is this dressing room belonging to Aerin Lauder. She uses it as a dressing room, a closet, and an office. It includes hand painted Chinoiserie wallpaper by Gracie, a Venetian mirror from her grandmother Estee Lauder, a chandelier from a Paris auction, and a magnificent Italian brass Z desk circa 1970 by designer and architect Gabriella Crespi.

Pink and Green Luxe

These Phillip Gorrivan curtains were on sale on One Kings Lane a few days ago. Green duchesse satin edged in pink quilted silk with mink trim. Wouldn't this be incredible to copy for a dressing room?

Chinoiserie DIY

Traditional brown wooden Chinese stands are great to elevate and display Chinese porcelain pieces like ginger jars, blanc de Chine, celadon, Chinese horses, or foo dogs, but can look dated. I saw these on One Kings Lane today and they have sold, but I love the idea of painting Chinese stands in fuschia, turquoise, kelly green, or whatever you like for a pop of color and a more modern look.

My New May Houzz Ideabook - Fabulous Foo Dogs

Please visit my new May Houzz Ideabook - Fabulous Foo Dogs where you will find my picks for adding a pair of these iconic mythical guardians to your home. You can always find the link to my Ideabooks in my sidebar. The red lacquered foo dog above is part of a pair available on 1st dibs for $6,000. A great DIY project - I just saw foo dogs like these on lucite bases at HomeGoods and T.J. Maxx for $19.99 each. Spray paint them high gloss red and convert them into lamps. The pair below are on 1st dibs for $1,895. Another great DIY, they were created taking a vintage pair and adding lucite bases and metallic lamp shades. The vintage blanc de Chine pair in the last photo, I snagged on Etsy last night for under $50 including shipping - I found them researching this Ideabook.
