The Chinoiserie Kitchen

Colleen Bashaw - House Beautiful

There is so much to love in this space - the bar is perfection with its blue and white tile, glass and brass shelving, fun mirror, beautiful cabinets, counters, and hardware, and great styling. The dining area has an amazing rattan chandelier, jute rug, Saarinen table, and Quadrille chinoiserie fabric on the Louis chairs. I love the bare windows and gorgeous ceiling.

I found my tile and furniture yesterday for the lanai and will order and schedule everything ASAP. Everything just fell into place.

Enjoy the Super Bowl tonight. I love football and am a huge Tom Brady fan and Tampa is just up the road. Go Bucs! I can't wait. Tonight he will absolutely cement his place in history as the greatest quarterback of all time in case there was any doubt.

I found more photos of this fabulous space.

Tropical Styling

Danielle Rollins

I love this bar styling - a palm tray and using palm fronds in a silver ice bucket. With all this craziness, drinking seems like a good idea - LOL. BTW, it's amazing how long cut fronds from my garden last - as long as four weeks. I love the look and they are free and last so much longer than flowers.

Does anyone have a source for coral handled flatware? Horchow used to sell a darling set, but no longer. I'm looking for something fun and casual and well priced.

Styling The Bar Cart

Amanda Lindroth

I love a great bar cart and lately am especially drawn to wicker and rattan ones with a tropical vibe. I have just added two to my home. Bar carts are not just for booze anymore - they make perfect bedside tables and sofa end tables. The one above is styled with a potted orchid topped with seashells, framed photos, books, a wicker lamp, and more seashells.

I love this one below and have to find that bar towel. The cart is styled with an Amanda Lindroth Island Tray in orange and AL wicker glasses too. I'm off to find that towel - LOL.

A vintage Chinoiserie cabinet is perfect to convert to a bar. Here are some other great examples.

Styling the Bar Cart

This is the bar cart in my husband's man cave. I think it's masculine but with some fun and whimsical touches like the vintage pair of giraffes and the silver rhino.

Styling the Chinoiserie Bar - The Ginger Jar

Mark D. Sikes

A very elegant example of how to style the Chinoiserie bar using a blue and white ginger jar and a potted white orchid.  I love how the bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin picks up the blue - I AWAYS have a bottle on my bar.

New Series - Styling the Chinoiserie Bar

I feel like having some fun the next few days with my top tips for styling your bar with Chinoiserie Chic style. As you know, bars and bar carts are all the rage, I have two, and I love styling and restyling them.

We start with a great pick - Monkey Shoulder. I am not generally a fan of blended scotch, preferring single malts, but this is a blend of three famous single malts. It is wonderful neat, on ice, or in cocktails - it makes a killer scotch and lime. And it very well priced.

Moreover, the bottle is gorgeous with its trio of brass monkeys perched on the shoulder. So cute. And Chinoiserie as well as monkeys are such a favorite subject to depict. Here it is below on a bar. Note that all the bottles are empty or near empty. Either they are for display or this blogger likes her cocktails.
