Chinoiserie Panels How To

Create a focal point in any room of your home with a pair of Chinoiserie panels as in this living room by interior designer Jessica Lagrange from Traditional Home. Another great trick - give that Persian or Oriental rug of yours a modern look by layering it over a sisal rug. The Decorator Archives has an extensive selection of Chinoiserie panels at very affordable prices for that dramatic focal point your home has been waiting for.

Chinoiserie Panels DIY

We are continuing with our series on how to use Chinoiserie panels in your own home. First we looked at Barrie Benson's modern approach framing traditional Chinoiserie panels in black molding. Next we took a peek at Ellen O'Neill's sepia toned monochromatic apartment. Today we see a wonderful DIY project. Jenny Komenda of Little Green Notebook used plexiglass sheets, Command poster hanging strips, and brass buttons to frame a beautiful, portable, and inexpensive set of Chinoiserie panels for her dining room. See the entire project here. You will find a gorgeous collection of Chinoiserie panels at The Decorator Archives allowing you to create this very high end look in your home.

Chinoiserie Panels How To

Many of you will recall this incredible sepia toned apartment of Ellen O'Neill from House Beautiful featuring Cowtan and Tout's wonderful Chinoiserie toile Siam. If you love this palette, check out the stunning sepia panels in the three bottom photographs from The Decorator Archives.

Chinoiserie Panels How To

I hope you have all checked out the incredible Chinoiserie panels at The Decorator Archives. I am beginning a new series to inspire you on ways to use them in your home. This Barrie Benson dining room featured in Domino shows us a wonderfully modern approach, trimmed out in black molding. Large wallpaper panels like these can be hung directly on the wall as murals or can be mounted on gator foam board so they can move with you. This beautiful panel in the bottom photo is very similar - Royal Garden Cream. It measures 72'' wide by 96" high and is priced at $378.

A pink flamingo is a great way to get that Palm Beach Chinoiserie style, as shown in this great vignette above by Bunny Williams. The Decorator Archives has two wonderful pink flamingo works of art, available as originals hand painted on silk or as prints.

The Decorator Archives - Singerie

I am a huge fan of "singerie," a French word meaning monkey trick. This genre depicts monkeys aping human behavior, often fashionably attired. This original piece of art from France is on crackled canvas. At a very impressive 3'7" by 7'6", this would be a very dramatic addition to your home.

Fanciful Chinoiserie palms after the 18th century German Engelbrecht - available in small or large prints or as a one of a kind original piece
These are my three favorite pieces currently in The Decorator Archives category People. These would make stunning additions to your home and start at $99.00. Check out their vast selection of Chinoiserie art here.

Another of fanciful Chinoiserie palms that would be a fabulous pair with the one above - also available in a small or large print or as an original piece

The Decorator Archives

The Decorator Archives has now launched its website. This will be your "go to" source for the highest quality fine art and prints. They sell both original art and giclees. The collections are meticulously selected by interior designers and are available only online.

The curators of these collections have been in the interior design business for over thirty five years specializing in decorative sets of art and prints, especially large scale art, as well as murals. The collection of Chinoiserie is incredible, but they also have collections of animals, architecture, botanicals, modern, people, and many others. You will always find their link in my sidebar. New pieces are added virtually daily, so check back often.

Prints start at $29.00. You will find everything from single prints up to 5 panel murals 15' wide by 8' high. I know that many of us thought that Chinoiserie art, panels, and murals were only for the very rich and just a dream for the rest of us. Well, stop dreaming and make it happen with this wonderful source. Here is a recent post of mine with a gallery of rooms with framed Chinoiserie panels. I will now spend the rest of my morning pouring over all these stunning choices. Over and out.

The Most Exciting Chinoiserie News

I have incredibly exciting news and a sneak preview of something that is about to take the world of Chinoiserie by storm. For over 30 years, Paul Montgomery, of Paul Montgomery Studio, has been providing the highest quality hand painted wallpaper to the interior design world. Paul is editor of a new venture, The Decorator Archives, an online source for beautiful original and giclee print art. He has selected these art pieces and the collection will continually expand with new additions.

Whether you are looking for art pieces to frame or large scale panels to install, this will be your "go to" online source. The collection will include Botanicals, Architecture, People, Animals, Nature, Panoramics, Chinoiseries, Miscellany, and Ephemera. The prints are the highest quality and will look as good as the hand painted. The most exciting part is that the prices will be highly affordable!

Stay tuned for the launch date. I have given you a preview here of the Chinoiserie offerings. Click here to see a preview of the collection. I'm sure that many of us have dreamed of having Chinoiserie art and panels in our homes and that dream can soon be a reality. I am absolutely thrilled about this.
