Fromental Chinoiserie Fabrics
Did you know that in addition to making some of the world's most beautiful Chinoiserie wallcoverings, Fromental makes exquisite Chinoiserie fabrics? For those who have inquired about the wallpaper shown above, it is Fromental's hand embroidered Italian velvet wallpaper named Berard inspired by artist Christian Berard.

Bespoke Fromental

These wallcoverings are recent projects by Fromental. Chinoiserie patterns from their collection have been tweaked and/or done in new colorways for their clients. These include a multicolored version of Chinon above, an elegant bird and flower pattern Nonsuch on velvet just below, Pompei with its vivid embroidery on silk, and three new colorways of the very popular Prunus.

New from Fromental

Fromental has some stunning new offerings in Chinoiserie. Lacquered Chinoiserie on glossy backgrounds of faux-lacquer are ideal for dining rooms and bathrooms. Metallic textures include gold foil, striated washes, and metallic paints. Frescoed backgrounds give a faded weathered look and are reminiscent of the frescoes of Pompeii.

The Chinoiserie Boy's Nursery

When I began Chinoiserie Chic, one goal was to show Chinoiserie decor in every room of the house. After a year, I have yet to find a Chinoiserie boy's nursery, so I have decided to do a fantasy virtual one. The couple have an elegant and sophisticated home and they want the nursery for the little boy they are about to have to reflect their style in the rest of the home, which includes many lovely Chinoiserie touches. The budget is quite ample. They also wish the room to grow with the boy. I would start with Fromental for the walls in this singerie design. The soft palette and whimsical monkeys are a perfect choice for a nursery.
The beautiful sleigh crib is from Pottery Barn Kids. It looks like an heirloom and converts to a toddler bed.

This beautiful bedding is from Hillary Thomas Designs Candy Shop Collection in Salt Water Taffy in light blue and white seersucker and linen. I would have her do matching seersucker roman shades for the windows.

Swivel Glider from Pottery Barn Kids
Doesn't Chinoiserie work well in a boy's nursery? I hope you have found some inspiration here. For more wonderful Chinoiserie children's rooms, revisit my post here.

Fromental in the Kitchen & Giveaway Winner

Chinoiserie wallpaper is a great way to glam up any kitchen. Since most kitchens don't have a huge amount of wall space, one could indulge in a high end paper. Above is the ultimate-Fromental used in the kitchen! Below are other wonderful examples of Chinoiserie wallpapers in kitchens. The winner of my Flair book giveaway is Vickie H. If you email me your address, I'll get it right off to you. Have a lovely weekend-perhaps with a wonderful Chinoiserie find.

Children's Chinoiserie

Interior design for the nursery and child's room is finally coming into its own. People have at long last realized that children's rooms can reflect the style and quality of the rest of your home, but still be age appropriate. With its joyful and whimsical nature, Chinoiserie style is a natural. Pagodas, Chinoiserie toiles and wallpapers, faux bamboo chandeliers, singerie, monkeys, and elephants are all examples of Chinoiserie elements that will work perfectly. We will start with a look at some lovely examples by interior designers followed by some of my favorite sources. Above is a wonderful girl's bedroom by Ruthie Sommers.
