House Beautiful

This style of desk/console is a wonderful backdrop to Chinoiserie as demonstrated here with the Chinese calligraphy brushes, elephant, and lantern. I have found two fabulous versions of it at great prices.

From Pottery Barn, their nickel and glass Ava Metal Desk priced at $499.

And a wonderful desk from West Elm that is so elegant and well priced - their nickel and glass version of the Glass Cross Base Desk priced at $399. I am in the market for a new desk and I am considering both of these.

Meg Braff Showhouse

I received an email from Meg Braff yesterday with a reminder about the apartment she did for the Lenox Hill Hospital Showhouse at the W Residences. Her inspiration was the Hollywood mid century modern style of James Mont where lucite, lacquer, brass, animal prints, and Chinoiserie abounds. Here is a little tour - I hope some of you have been or will be in New York to see it in person. Two weeks are left.

Horchow has extended its One Day Sale - click here if you missed my post yesterday with my fabulous finds from the sale. Horchow is having a one day sale today and I'm going to stock up on these Ralph Lauren Greenwich towels. Today only, monogrammed bath towels are $9.79 including the monogram. Wow, what a deal. These towels wear like iron. Of course, the entire collection is also on sale. My favorite is this - white with a blue monogram. Such a classic. Fabulous Friday Finds

The two most frequent questions I get when I post photos of my home are about the leopard print in my dining room and the Chinese Chippendale counter stools in my kitchen. So today I'll source both of these for you adding several other options as well.

The leopard giclee is by Caitlin McGauley and it is still available here. I have also been eyeing the zebra print.

Along the same lines, I also love The Pink Pagoda's Cheetahs that are available in several colors - I especially like the blue and the pink.

Pink Cheetah Giclee

The Aesthete also has a wonderful Cheetahs watercolor giclee print.

Unfortunately, the metal Chinese Chippendale counter stools in my kitchen are from Ballard Designs and are no longer available.

But I have a couple great alternatives for you. Ballard Designs has these Chinese Chippendale counter stools in solid beech wood available in a Rubbed White or Warm Gray. They are also available as barstools. They are very well priced too.

Chinese Chippendale Counter and Barstools

Horchow has these Chinoiserie barstools available in blue or white and they are 25% off. These are metal like mine and they are great looking. They can even be used outdoors.

They also have it available in a very fun orange -

The fabric on my stools is Brunschwig & Fils Xian that I had vinylized - it lasts forever and never gets soiled.
