Introducing The Chinoiserie Chic Collection

I have been keeping this secret for over a year, and I can finally share my exciting news with all of you. Walmart approached me with the idea of doing a Chinoiserie Chic line of products for them. I could not have been more flattered or more excited to bring my love for Chinoiserie to a wider audience. First Nate Berkus for Target, then Jonathan Adler for JCPenney, now Chinoiserie Chic for Walmart. I have been working very hard on my collection for the past year.

Chinoiserie Chic Returns with Michael Smith

After dozens of emails and comments decrying my decision to abandon Chinoiserie in favor of the boring, bland and banal Belgian look, I have reconsidered. One follower wrote that she was in tears all day, another is planning an intervention, another an exorcism, and another has suggested house arrest. Trust me, I have not been drinking the Kool-Aid-it was just my April Fool's version of a design War of the Worlds. I am pleased to announce that on Chinoserie Chic, de Gournay has defeated dumpster decor. Let's look today at a California home by Michael Smith. Don't miss the Chinese ancestor portraits and Chinoiserie cabinets in the living room juxtaposed against the red check curtains, the master bedroom with its de Gournay walls, celadon lamps, and garden stool, and the powder room wallpapered in Clarence House Shanghai Deco.

A New Look for Chinoiserie Chic

I have come to a difficult decision. I've decided that starting today I will no longer feature Chinoiserie. I have fallen so totally in love with the Belgian look in interior design that I can no longer contain my enthusiasm. I will shop only at Restoration Hardware. I will use only salvaged, worm eaten, unstained wood. No more color for me-only beige, gray, or white. Linen will be my fabric of choice. Patterned wallpaper and fabric will be relegated to the past. Industrial pieces will fill my home and blog. Sparse and monochromatic will be my new look. Stay tuned-I am even working on a reclaimed blog banner.
