Animal prints have always been popular in interior design. I have posted many times about how well animal prints like leopard pair with chinoiserie. Today animal decor, not just fabrics and wallpaper, is a very hot trend. The "animalcore" trend goes beyond animal prints and embraces animals as home decor pieces. I especially like wicker animals, both functional and decorative versions. It pairs the animalcore trend with very popular wicker.
I have lot of examples at CCC including wicker elephants, monkeys, a turtle, and even a snail. I recently shared my thoughts on the animalcore trend with Redfin - Animalcore Design: The Wild New Trend Galloping into Interior Design.
One of the great benefits of the animalcore trend is its versatility. No matter what style you’re currently into, it’s easy to add animal décor to any trend. “Both wicker and animalcore are wildly popular trends,” shares Beth, interior designer and design blogger of Chinoiserie Chic. “Combine the two with wicker animals that add a touch of whimsy and nature to your home décor. Go with purely decorative pieces like wicker dogs, monkeys, or flamingos, or choose functional elephant-shaped tables or wicker baskets in the shapes of giraffes or rabbits.”

Have a wonderful long weekend!
Wonderful, wicker and rattan furniture pieces and accessories. I did see the wicker elephant table at BB&B, Beth, and what a great price. Jonathan Adler also has some wonderful, whimsical wicker pieces, albeit, at higher prices. One rattan piece of furniture I have always coveted is Serena & Lily's Breakers Rattan Floor Lamp, but it is $2,238.00, and that's their sale price!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! I'm ahead of a trend! Who knew? I have Ramsey the life-sized black resin sheep, Myrtle the resin turtle, Coco the ceramic cockatoo, a dozen small ceramic birds, half a dozen ceramic fish, Simon the life-sized papier mache salmon and numerous rattan chairs and wicker baskets. My house and all its critters make me very happy!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that Andrew Martin has some fabulous animal themed fabrics and wallpapers. I especially love their Kingdom Lagoon, and their Theater. andrewmartin.co.uk. Just wonderful.
