Celebration Monogrammed Wine Bowl |
I select a wine varietal each month and ask each couple to bring a bottle. Tonight is Champagne. Having everyone bring wine means I don't get random wine bottles and flowers and hostess gifts and such to deal with and everyone loves trying new favorite wines people have brought. I have silver monogrammed tubs filled with ice and several bottles of Champagne to start. I am serving Chandon California Brut - my favorite pick for the best Champagne under $20. And nothing is prettier than silver wine buckets filled with Champagne.
I also have recipes and fixings on the Champagne bar for two Champagne cocktails - see my post with recipes here. Guests pour their own glasses of Champagne and can make their own easy and yummy Champagne cocktails.
So I don't lift a finger bartending - each couple puts their bottle in a tub to chill and everyone helps themselves to lots of bubbly. I ask a couple of friends to monitor and pop open new bottles as needed.
I have lots of inexpensive but quite nice Champagne flutes that I don't need to stress over if an accident happens.
14 - 6 ounce Champagne Flutes |
I also have lots of sets of wine charms so everyone can keep track of their own glass. They are both darling and very functional. I am using these holiday ones tonight.

I think when I fractured my knee the day of one of my wine events and opted to have it instead of cancelling, I simplified things and let others help and it was a successful night. I realized I could incorporate this approach in all my events and it has let me enjoy them more.
I'll do another post with more tips on food, supplies, and the like in the next few days.
Great tips, thank you! Now, how do anticipate having some seating areas should anyone wish to sit down for a bit? Places to put down glasses? And yet keep all your lovely curated vignettes on display. Most people will probably prefer to stand and mingle but one never knows for sure and anticipating this and making accommodations for it is an art. I look forward to reading how it went.
ReplyDeleteIt is at our enormous clubhouse overlooking the pool and a lake. I could have 200 seated - LOL. How easy is that?
DeleteThat IS easy. I thought you were doing it at home...which is what I'll be facing once I can suspend my OCD tendencies for these types of affairs. I think a "server/bartender" would be a must for me.
DeleteHi, I'm invited to a friend's house for NYE, it's a Pot Luck so everyone is bringing something for dinner. What would be an. appropriate gift to bring that's not alcoholic. Thanks Beth and Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI would bring a great dessert.
DeleteI ordered three of these for my Christmas cocktail party, hosting 40 people in my home. They worked out great - in the past people sit around my dining table, which is not what I want at a cocktail party. https://a.co/d/8rhqSpo
ReplyDeleteLinks don't work on comments, so for anyone reading this, the link is to bistro tables on Amazon.
DeleteWhat a great idea to have guests bring a favorite bottle of wine. I'm wondering what your appetizer menu will be, Beth.
