I became a tartan fan living in Alexandria, Virginia for many years. Alexandria was founded by Scotsmen and the biggest event of the year is the Scottish Walk, always the first weekend in December. The weekend always included a gala where tartan was the preferred attire. I would wear a black watch tartan strapless silk taffeta gown.
Black Watch is one of the most famous and popular tartans ever‚ recognized the world over. In 1725, the Black Watch was formed by companies from Clans Campbell‚ Fraser‚ Munro and Grant with their warrior natures to guard and protect the Highlands‚ and authorized to wear their kilt and bear arms.

This may well be the first time I beat you to it. Bought the blouse two years ago, and it's always an attention getter. Granddaughter bakes dog biscuits every year for the Alexandria doggie parade. With luck I'll be watching the bag pipers this year as well. My heart skips a beat or two as they pass by on King Street.
ReplyDeleteDoes everybody in Old Town have a dog? I think they do. Sunday morning at the dog park along the river is a sight to behold. Seems all the dogs know each other.
