Royal Blue Lace 3D Maxi Caftan |
I am a caftan devotee - in the tropical heat of Florida, there's nothing more comfortable. Caftans, also spelled kaftans, were originally worn by men. Cut from airy material to sit off the body, it is one of the most comfortable things you can don in tropical climates. Long associated with Palm Beach and Florida, the caftan is as comfortable as sweat pants, but with elegance and sophistication.
Caftans are thought to have originated in ancient Mesopotamia and were worn in India, Africa, and Iran by sultans and high ranking officials (men) from the 14th to 18th century. Caftans became the rage in the sixties worn by women like Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, and Vogue editor Diana Vreeland.
I love caftans and they have become a mainstay of my wardrobe here in Florida. Comfortable and chic, they can be dressed up or down and getting dressed is so effortless. Add a pair of sandals and statement jewelry and you are good to go.
I am a big fan of the iconic lace caftans of La Vie Style House and would happily have a closetful of them. Worn by celebrities and social influencers, they have a wonderful vintage aesthetic.
You can shop the entire sale here. These very special pieces are wonderful for a special occasion like mother of the bride, wedding guest, honeymoon, anniversary, or people like me who love to dress up for no reason at all. There are many styles, but my favorites are the lace caftans which is what they are most known for.
As you can see, these are purposely unlined so that you can wear what you like underneath - underwear, a bodysuit, a slip, or a slip dress. I love wearing a Quince silk slip dress under my maxi lace one. These are great because they can be worn alone as a dress or as a slip under see through caftans. Washable and available in lots of colors.
These caftans are exquisite...I will check out their site. I find caftans to be so chic and easy to wear. I find some pretty ones even on etsy - 2 silk scarves sewn together, as well as on Snappy Turtle's website/ stores. Cotton ones in colorful prints made in India. As always, thank you for the recs. You have beautiful taste.
