Lee Radziwill's Paris Apartment |
In honor of the Olympics in Paris, I thought I would post about my favorite Paris apartment. This was the Parisian apartment of Lee Radziwill, sister of Jackie Kennedy and recently portrayed in the mini series
Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.
You see that it prominently features a beautiful chinoiserie fabric, Pierre Frey's Les Acrobates also called Chinese Acrobats. This fabric is very similar to one of the most iconic chinoiserie patterns, Scalamandre's Chinoise Exotique.
Wallpaper and fabric in Chinoise Exotique are every high end, about $600 a roll of wallpaper or yard of fabric.
If you'd like to add this stunning chinoiserie pattern to your home, there are some unique options.
And believe it or not, the wallpaper is available in a peel and stick version for about $50 a single roll! This is 1/10 of the price! And take 10% off with code SMR24. This would be a fantastic DIY for a powder room, the back of a bookcase or cabinet, a bar, a china cabinet, and more.
Beth, I look forward to reading your blog every morning. You always showcase beautiful chinoiserie designs and provide outlets to find these lovely items...BONUS!! I am smitten with Lee Radziwill's Paris flat. This room has a well balanced seating arrangement for the space and the fabric is less fussy than Scalamandre's Chinoise Exotique IMO. The fabric is from Pierre Frey, Mikado - Rouge. The design is called Chinese Acrobats. Have a lovely day! Cheers - Mary
ReplyDeleteThank you for pointing this out. I have had a very stressful 24 hours and am not operating on all cylinders. My clothes dryer died last night. I have an appointment in a couple of hours with my orthopedic surgeon. And there is a hurricane headed towards Florida. I corrected the post and appreciate you.
DeleteGood luck with your orthopedic surgeon apt. Prayers being sent that the hurricane bypasses you.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is beautiful. I love gorgeous fabrics and wallpapers. If I am not mistaken, I believe you posted some time ago, a designer's closet or hallway that was wallpapered in a gorgeous blue tropical themed wallpaper? Not sure it was you, Beth, but I think so. I cannot remember the designer's name. DeGournay made a gorgeous wallpaper with a sort of sunset peachy colored background, which I adored. I don't believe they make it anymore.
ReplyDeleteI hope the doctor's appointment goes well, and stay away from hurricanes, if possible. I understand Floridians are experiencing the same challenges getting homeowner's insurance that Californians are, due to natural disasters.
Dearest Beth, You'll have that special place in my heart all day. Good luck with everything. Won't be long and it will all be over and you'll be back to yourself again. So frustrating when it all goes down at the same time. Did like todays feature. I 'm a huge fan of both fabric and Lee's style. The mirror should be in my bedroom. Also a child size chair should be in every sitting room, me thinks.

Beth, I love*love*love this post. Lee Radziwill's Paris apartment is the gold standard in taste and style. Her Pierre Frey fabric --fabulous! If only we could learn who designed that drop-dead sofa in raspberry velvet in her living room. The supreme showstopper!
ReplyDeleteYour posts are wonderful - you bring so much beauty and inspiration to the world, the gods will surely help you recovery quickly!
Best, Terry
