The Red and White Chinoiserie Dining Room

Ariel Okin - House Beautiful

Although I am usually drawn to blue and white chinoiserie dining rooms, this one in different shades of red and white one is a beautiful alternative. Chinese Chippendale chairs by Bungalow 5 are a perfect choice.

The sideboard has a wicker tulipiere by Amanda Lindroth and white Chinese gourd lamps by Visual Comfort with shades by Bunny Williams. Wallpaper is Lewis & Wood. The sunburst mirror is by Carvers' Guild. The sideboard is Theodore Alexander.

Th striped custom settee covered in Schumacher is very pretty but seems oddly placed. It's too far from the dining table for seating with no casters to move it closer but too close to fit a chair in at the head of the table. Perhaps it is just for staging like all the pots with fresh flowers on the dining table.

I found those darling leopard candlesticks on the sideboard on sale here -

  1. I love that wallpaper, and the sunburst mirror too. I'm also a big fan of blue and white, but I've discovered that my house looks better with a dose of warmer colors, otherwise it feels cold and cavernous. The window treatment appears to be matchstick blinds, but I'm not positive. Maybe you could tell me for sure, Beth.

  2. I wondered about that settee as well. And the table legs look like card table legs. A pretty room, though.
