Setting the New Year's Eve Table

Carolyne Roehm

This is great inspiration for setting the table for New Year's Eve - a very chic color palette of black, gold, and red. A very glamorous and sophisticated look.

The centerpiece is red carnations, a long lasting and well priced cut flower that has become very "in" again. I found a large black ginger jar at HomeGoods that I used at Halloween. It would work beautifully for this table setting filled with red carnations, roses, or amaryllis. This would also be a great look for a Valentine's Day table setting.

Of course most of us do not have china with black like this. But black touches could be brought in with things like black napkins, black candles, black balloons, and the like.

I am having a few people over for Champagne later and will definitely be looking for some red flowers at Publix today for my black ginger jar. Enjoy this evening however you will be ringing in the new year.
