Here is a wonderful idea for Christmas decorating. A bountiful garland of magnolia mixed with Leland cypress ascends a staircase. Instead of ribbon, floral and interiors designer Mark Thompson secured the greenery to the newel post and banister with glossy Samuel & Sons silk double-tassel tiebacks, knotted into shoestring-like bows, for a festive decorative finish.
Note that they did not use traditional red and green, but rather blue and white and coral.
I recently did a post on using curtain tiebacks for Christmas decorating.
I first saw this idea in House Beautiful years ago and loved it. Beautiful red and green curtain tiebacks are used to dress up doors for the holidays.
This could be done on a protected exterior door, interior door, closet door, armoire, or cabinet. Key tassels could be used on chests and dressers. I have found both eBay and Etsy to be great sources.
