The Lace Caftan High/Low

La Vie Style House Lace Caftan

I absolutely adore caftans. They are perfect in tropical climates like South Florida where the last thing you want is constricting clothing. I am a big fan of the iconic lace caftans of La Vie Style House and would happily have a closetful of them. Worn by celebrities and social influencers, they have a wonderful vintage aesthetic.

No. 0542 Holly 3d Lace 3d Maxi Caftan

"This maxi caftan features LaVie's signature 3D crochet lace in classic holly color. This handcrafted piece is known for it's heavy crochet, timeless floral pattern, and easy fit. It is the epitome of the label's vintage-inspired aesthetic."

Their lace caftans are see - through and designed to be worn with a slip in under - one can choose a slip in nude or white or even a contrasting color.

I have been looking for lace caftans with a lower price point and found one I love available in two great colors. These are $198 as opposed to $850. They would be great for vacation - multitasking as a swimsuit coverup poolside and beachside, then with a slip for cocktails and dinner.

And a while back La Vie Style House had a yellow star lace caftan that I loved - alas no longer available.

This is a great look - alike at a great price -

Caftans/kaftans have been worn in many cultures by men and women for thousands of years. Originally from ancient Mesopotamia and Asia Minor, the style spread to Eastern Europe and Russia and was especially prevalent in Turkey, and later in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. In Western countries, the caftan was made famous by hippies returning from the hippie trail. Designers brought these styles to the runways, and celebrities have loved them ever since. Elizabeth Taylor was even married in one (her second wedding to Richard Burton).

These statement dresses don't need a lot of accessorizing besides a great pair of sunglasses.

I am going to a Gourmet Spanish Wine Dinner tonight. The main course will be seafood paella. The dinner will include a Rioja Tasting and Tapas - I am bringing a very special 2010 Rioja and I am making Blistered Padron Peppers. I plan on wearing a red Frances Valentine caftan since the color red is very Spanish.
