Lace for the Holidays

Red Guipure Lace Daphne Dress

Lace is such a pretty choice for holiday dressing, and I have rounded up some favorites. All of these are very versatile, and could be worn to a variety of holiday events and parties from luncheons to New Year's Eve, depending how you style them.

This red lace dress is made out of my favorite guipure lace. If you are not familiar with the term "guipure" it is a high end lace that connects the motifs with bars or plaits rather than net or mesh.

"A Tuckernuck style staple, the Daphne is back and better than ever. Our design team spent months perfecting and testing our signature stand collar to get it just right. As Marvin Gaye once said: “Ain’t no collar high enough," so bring on the ruffles and drama! Updated in a beautiful red guipure lace, this swing shape mini dress reminds us of our favorite mod dresses from the 60s and 70s. Ready for celebrations with family, festive parties with friends, and every social event on your calendar, the occasions are endless for this bow tie-back dress!"

I love the back on this dress. Click on the captions to link.

Designers like Oscar de la Renta and La Vie Style House use guipure lace at prices significantly higher. This Oscar de la Renta pink guipure lace blouse is $1,690.

I wanted to mention, if you have not heard the news, of the passing of legendary interior designer Furlow Gatewood yesterday at the age of 101. I will do a post on his contribution tomorrow, but my thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.

  3. Did not know about Mr. Gatewood. I, too, have his book "One Man's Folly" - awesome book and interior designer. RIP Sir :)
