This is in my foyer at CCC. My vintage chinoiserie chest is topped with my favorite pair of calligraphic ginger jars, a collection of conch shells, and sea fans in a vintage Kate Spade wicker handbag.
And on one of my toilets - LOL.

The Charlotte Moss assemblage has quite a collection including sea urchins, sea fans, barnacles, scallop shells, pearl trochus, white coral, red coral branches, and even a tiny clay pot.
I would love to try my hand at this. I don't have a silver jardiniere, but I found this beautiful faux bamboo one that would work well.

A miniature version would be beautiful in this Bunny Williams silver cachepot using tiny seashells.

How do you think they have secured some of the dangling shells? Perhaps Museum Wax? This wonderful product is a must in my home. Used by museum curators and antique collectors, a dab prevents items from falling and breaking. Great for lamps, antiques, and collectibles, perfect if you have kids, cats, or dogs or visiting ones. It keeps items from slipping, sliding, or moving. One little jar lasts forever. A follower emailed me this week about ginger jar lids getting bumped off and broken and I suggested she secure the lids with Museum Wax.

If you love seashells like I do, the west coast of Florida has some of the best seashell beaches in the world including Sanibel Island, Marco Island, Captiva Island, and the Venice beaches where I live.
Sanibel has the iconic store She Sells Seashells
ReplyDeleteGreat name!
DeleteHi Beth,
ReplyDeleteLove your foyer…and toilet. I’m grateful to learn about Museum Wax. I assume no marks are left behind? Best, Nancy
I have used it on all types of surfaces with no issue.
DeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteIt must be wonderful to live so close to the ocean. Sea shells are just one of nature's many beautiful gifts.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved them.
DeleteHi Beth, GREAT to know about Museum Wax! I got to get me a jar! .........Thanks, Al
ReplyDeleteA great product.
DeleteI agree completely about museum wax. Never thought to attach lids to ginger jars. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt has so many uses.
DeleteHi Beth ~ I was given as a gift a blue and white chinoiserie jardinere exactly like the one on your toilet top. Do you have any information on provinance, age, etc? Hope you have it stuck down with Museum Wax! Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteI hate to be a party pooper but it is a reproduction I got a few years back at TJ Maxx for next to nothing. Hence its location on the toilet. I would not do that with something quite valuable. LOL
DeleteThank you for the information on Museum Wax. I bought a darling little blue and white jar with a lid at an estate sale a few years ago. The lid was not even taped and the cashier/estate sale manager accidentally dropped the lid, cracking and chipping it in several places! I still bought it, but boy, was I sad. I will be using MW on my lids from now on. Thanks again.
