Sarasota Memorial Hospital at Venice |
I suspect you noticed that I was MIA from my usual daily post yesterday. On Friday, I experienced vertigo that got progressively worse as the day progressed, with everything spinning nonstop. I went to the emergency room at the brand new Sarasota Memorial Hospital at Venice that literally just opened its doors. It is five minutes from my house.
It looks more like a Ritz Carlton than a hospital. Seriously - check out the photo above. It has been likened to a modern art museum. It even has a blue meditation room. And it is filled with modern art. I should mention that it is a nationally ranked hospital by U.S. News and World Report. Another reason why Sarasota is the number one relocation destination in the country.

My internist is now in the connected medical building with all the medical specialists.
They did every test imaginable and everything came back great. My sinuses are just really messed up, and the sinusitis is causing the vertigo. I got back at 5 AM yesterday and went to bed. So I am just really worn out and am taking the weekend off to chill out and rest.

I will be back to regular posts tomorrow morning, Lord willing and the the creek don't rise.
I was concerned when you didn't post. I just knew that something had happened. Have a good rest and I hope that awful vertigo goes away very soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessing & Health to you :) This sinus crud in South Ga. and Fla. has been awful this year :( Hope you're on the mend !!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if something was up because you never miss a day and I always check for your posts. Hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI too was worried, you always post. I had an attack of vertigo in April, also ended up in the emergency room, I felt like I was on a carnival ride. I am glad you are tucked in at home. What a nice facility to be near.
ReplyDeleteTake care and get some good rest.
ReplyDeleteI have been - thank you!
DeleteYes - you were missed!
ReplyDeleteHappy for you that you have such a fabulous ritzy hospital close by.
DO take care.
We'll soldier through in the meantime without our fearless leader - !
LOL - thank you!
DeleteFeel better!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks - doing much better.
DeleteSleep all you want and rest. Go slow. The holidays are just starting.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have been trying to slow down a bit.
DeleteIt is fitting that the queen of style would have a fabulous hospital for care. Thankful that your problem was treatable! I thought I was the last person still saying "Lord willing and the creek don't rise."
ReplyDeletePresident Biden uses it constantly. Thanks so much!
DeleteThinking of you and hoping you are feeling a little better today.
ReplyDeleteHope you were feeling much better today.
ReplyDeleteThank you - still tired but feeling better.
DeleteI’m so sorry that you are experiencing vertigo. It’s not fun. I hope you only have it temporarily and are feeling better today!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - feeling much better.
DeleteOh Beth! My prayers for your quick & full recovery! Vertigo is about the worst & most debilitating thing I have ever experienced! So glad you could receive excellent care! Looking forward to more from you when you feel back to normal!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Hopefully this is under control. It was really awful.
DeleteSympathizing, here. I have struggled with it for years. Tests, loss of hearing, more tests...finally they decided to call it Meniere's disease. Strikes without warning and usually leaves after a day of heaving my guts up. Bright side is that it can leave me alone for months and, rarely, years. Best of wishes to you.

Thanks so much. So sorry you have had to deal with all of that.
DeleteI'm so sorry you experienced this, and going to the ER is not fun, but oh my, what a fabulous place! The lobby/atrium reminds me just a tiny bit of Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteThanks - if you have to be in the hospital, it might as well be gorgeous.
DeleteGlad you’re recuperating just fine and everything is under control! But if you’re going to be taken to a hospital- that sure looks like a cool one. I love the design.
ReplyDeleteIt's really stunning. I am very visual and I feel better being in such a gorgeous space.
DeleteThat hospital is lovely! I am so sorry this happened to you and that you are now home. I too had vertigo, positional vertigo most frequently, and was referred to a neurological physical therapist for "crystal adjustments". After years of my head spinning and crazy dizziness-and in just three treatments, it is gone. My wish for you is that your vertigo does not come back and your Christmas is the merriest ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I am doing the physical therapy as well.
DeleteCheck out BPPV. I’ve had a few bouts and am able to relieve the symptoms with at home positional exercises which realign the “crystals” in the ear as prescribed by my GP. My husband has severe vertigo from Ménière’s disease and has been on a salt free, caffeine free diet which has prevented a recurrence. However, it has affected his hearing in one ear.
ReplyDeleteThanks - yes it it BPPV but the sinusitis is apparently causing it. I am going for physical therapy.
DeleteOh Beth, please feel better, there’s few things worse than the world and everything in it spinning around in your head. I’ve had it and my husband has menders disease which is very debilitating. He’s been in remission for years but you never know when it will return. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMeniere’s not menders! Darn auto correct!
DeleteThank you. It's amazing how common it is!
DeleteFeel better - you are missed! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI am so excited by the new hospital! I think it is beautiful. So sorry you had to experience it as a patient, but at least the care is terrific!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful that it is so close to my house. Thanks!
DeleteSending get well wishes to you!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I am doing much better.
DeleteBeth, you were missed on my daily wakeup ritual of coffee & CC. Glad to hear you are on the mend...my days are not the same without you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Hopefully I am back on schedule.
DeleteHi Beth, I finally checked my email today and saw your post. Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. Hope you're doing/feeling better and glad it's not anything serious. Speedy Recovery!!!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling better. Thanks so much.
DeleteBeth, so sorry about your vertigo. I'm unfortunately familiar with it as my husband has bouts due to Meniere's. He rarely has experienced it recently, but after receiving his Moderna booster has had several short episodes - really scary! We know others who are experiencing it after Covid shots - hmmm? Doctors say there's not enough evidence yet to determine if vertigo could be a side effect of the vaccine - just thought I would let you know that! Be well - we miss you!
ReplyDeleteI had Moderna as well. It will be interesting to see if there is a connection.
