Chanel Fall/Winter 2021 |
Today I am posting on my top ten beauty products that I am never without. These would be great as gifts or for treating yourself. I tend to like classic iconic products that have stood the test of time. I am also fairly minimalist and use a small number of things that I really love.
1. Creme de la Mer
My number 1 pick that I can't live without is Creme de la Mer. I have been using it for twenty years and it is worth every cent. I don't do facials or peels or anti wrinkle creams or cosmetic surgery or any of the rest of it and my skin looks incredible. And I have never used foundation or concealer in my life - my skin is au natural and positively glows. This is the one product I would never give up. Although pricey, you use a dime size dollop that you warm between your hands before applying and a jar lasts quite a long time. I recommend the original cream as opposed to the soft cream. There is a reason this has been the gold standard in moisturizers for decades.
2. Naked and Thriving Rejuvenate Restorative Facial Oil
This organic, vegan, all natural face oil is amazing. I use it before the Creme de la Mer. Your skin will literally drink this up leaving it natural, youthful, and luminous. This product has a cult following and after trying it you will know why. Let it absorb a couple minutes before applying the La Mer.
3. OPI Cajun Shrimp Nail Polish
At under $10, this makes a great stocking stuffer. The perfect coral, this is a classic that looks good on everyone. This color is iconic in the south - especially Florida and Texas. It is a great color that looks good all year long. And OPI really lasts.
4. Silk Pillowcases
You may not think of silk pillowcases as a beauty product, but trust me - by reducing friction and increasing hydration, they reduce hair frizz, split ends, and bedhead and help prevent wrinkles in your skin. I have four pairs and would not sleep on anything else. This also makes a lovely gift. Hill House Home are on sale right now and are very high end. I am also a big fan of Quince. Click here for $10 off your first order at Quince.
5. Narciso Rodriguez for Women
Fragrance is of course very personal, but I have been wearing this fragrance since its launch in 2003 and have never found anything I like better at any price. It is described as a Floral Woody Musk and combines African orange flower, osmanthus, amber, and patchouli. It is a very sensual scent that I never tire of.
6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
Perhaps the biggest makeup mistake women make as they age is overly tweezed thin eyebrows. I love a bold and groomed brow and get my brows threaded. There are zillions of eyebrow products on the market but I especially like this one. It comes in 11 shades and is perfect for filling in, detailing, and keeping your brows in place.
You will need a good angled brush and spooly too.
7. Chanel Joues Contraste Blush
I love Chanel makeup and think it's all wonderful. My favorite is their powder blush. It is smooth, silky, buildable, and lasts all day. I have never gotten one that I did find incredibly natural looking. And they last forever.
8. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle #434 Lipstick
This rosed brown lipstick is universally flattering. It's the only color I have worn for years and get asked about it all the time. It's hydrating, lasts well, and looks great with everything.
9. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
I have been using this classic forever and you can't beat it for the price. I'd rather splurge on other things.
10. Mason Pearson Hair Brush
This iconic hair brush will last you forever. I have not used another brush on my hair in decades. This size is at a great price that won't break the bank and is perfect for your purse as well as home.
Thank you for all your well wishes. I am feeling better - taking a prescription for the vertigo and using Flonase for my sinuses and am scheduled to see an ENT.
Beth, I'm glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably one who is just blessed with beautiful skin. I worked as an esthetician for almost 20 years, but left that line of work almost 20 years ago. So much has changed. I tried La Mer, but did not experience the positive results that so many raved about. I do use an essential oil on my skin though, and I couldn't live without it. It's a Decleor product. Decleor is now owned by L'Oreal, so it is no longer a professional line, but, for my very dry skin, I still find it to be far superior to most of what is out there. So much depends upon what kind of skin one has. I love fragrances, so I will definitely try Narciso Rodriguez. I really need a good brow filler and pomade, but for me, finding the right color is the difficult part. I'm very fair - I was once a redhead, but I now color my hair, (It's turned sort of a mousy brown. Mouse colored hair = not good.) So I need a color that is not too dark, otherwise I look like Groucho Marks! Thanks for the beauty tips, Beth.
You've nailed it - I couldn't describe my eyebrows when they're too dark, but you're right - Groucho Marx! So funny.
DeleteThere is one for blondes and one for redheads - at this price, experiment.
Delete@Lisa D. Another great Anastasia brow product is their powder duo! I too have trouble finding brow products that are light enough that I don't look like Groucho Marx. The duo is perfect if your brows are thinner/lighter at the ends because you can use the darker shade there and the lighter shade in the middle to help even them out!
DeleteChanel has wonderful products all the way - treatment and beauty. I am most definitely a Chanel girl all the way and have been since I was 24 years old. And as I have said before, I am an OPI Cajun Shrimp lover. I also have used the Mason Pearson brushes for over 20 years - one for at home and one for my handbag. I have yet to try silk pillowcases, but I think I will!
ReplyDeleteYou will love the silk pillowcases.
DeleteI find this post and these comments to be helpful and soothing. Apparently it is what I needed today.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it.
