Christmas Gifts for Your Car

My Audi Baby

With all the snowbirds returning to Florida, I am bringing my car in for servicing bright and early this morning before things get busy around here.

I am a bit of a car buff and thought I would share some favorite car toys that you might love for yourself or for the car lover in your life. These would all make great gifts.

I got a pair of Rothy's The Driver and love them. They are available in many colors and in men's as well. If this is your first Rothy's purchase, click here for my code for $20 off your first purchase. Driving shoes give you better control of the car's pedals while driving, but are so comfortable and chic in or out of the car. I keep mine in the car and slip into them for driving.

The best car mats on the market are without question these custom handmade mats by Coco Mats. I bought mine 5 years ago and they look like the day I bought them. They come in lots of styles and colors and you can get samples mailed to you. I have the red and black coco mats and they are gorgeous. My dad always drove European sports cars and they remind me of those vintage cars and mats.

I love my car smelling as wonderful as my house and most car air fresheners are frankly repulsive. And please don't mention Febreze for the car. I gag thinking about it. Here is what I use and love.

These Max Benjamin car diffusers smell amazing and last for months. They are super hard to find and sell out all the time. This has a very fresh and clean unisex scent. It just clips on a vent. (P.S. I just checked and you all have bought out Amazon's stock - hopefully they will restock).

Lastly, my car is always dressed up as a reindeer for the holidays. I have been doing this for several years and you wouldn't believe the reaction I get - people love it.  Every day I get thumbs up, questions about where to buy it, and people taking pics of my car. It's lots of fun.

  1. I have recently discovered and can vouch for these "clip on vent" fragrance gadgets. I was desperate to find something when I had to rent a car for a few months and did not like the interior smell it came with.

Mine came from Amazon with blank refill disks which you can infuse with your own fragrance. I am very particular about it and like the idea of choosing my own fragrance I know and love. And with blank disks, you can pick different fragrances or essential oils as the spirit moves you: maybe evergreen for the holidays, lime or lemon in general, anything you like.

My car vents are black and this gizmo is very unobtrusive being clipped on the front: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SLBBF7W?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

    1. Unfortunately, these are designed for essential oils and many many essential oils are toxic to pets. I take my dogs everywhere with me in the car. They are dangerous for pets in the home, but this would be far worse since they would be so close to the vent. Pet owners please avoid essential oils!!!!!!

  2. Thanks for the car tips, Beth. I love the mats but with all those little nooks and crannies, how do you keep them clean? Your Audi is beautiful.

    1. You give them a quick shake or a light vacuum. They stay immaculate, far better than carpet.

  5. I am so glad you are telling people about the Coco Mats! I bought a set in red and black as well, for my black car, and nine years later all but the driver's mat are, as you say, good as new. I live up north with lots of mud and snow and am very hard on my mats. Since then I've bought their seagrass mats for my silver car. It's a wonderful product and really helps to keep the car looking sharp.

    1. So glad you love them too. They are so elegant. How do you like the seagrass?

    2. I love the seagrass. It is similarly hard-wearing. The genius thing about the mats is how they hide sand, grit, etc. until you shake them out. The car stays so much cleaner.

    3. The seagrass are beautiful but the color doesn't work for my car. Completely agree about keeping the car cleaner.

  7. One friend always looks for damaged oriental carpets. She has the
damaged carpets turned into luxurious car mats.
I also agree with your assessment re Rothy shoes -- excellent product!

  8. ohhh Beth!!! You always have the best / chicest ideas! I will look for the car scent or as another commenter mentioned a blank one to use essential oils- what a great idea. Love the reindeer decoration and driving shoes idea to keep in the car.

    1. Thanks so much. Read my comment above - no essential oils if you have fur babies.

  9. I have the Cocomats in my car as well and totally give them two thumbs up. I chose the natural seagrass; I feel they area nice upgrade in your "ride"! Patience is needed as they take a while to receive though so worth it. I walk on the beach often and get back in my car with sandy feet. They shake easily or I use the mini-vac to remove the excess sand. Maybe not a great choice if you have a lot of muddy feet in your car often.

Also...I purchased from Diptyque the figuier car diffuser insert without the holder (refill). I leave it in the pocket of the passenger side. Though a bit pricey, the scent has lasted for several years. Many comments from guest passengers on the wonderful scent and not overpowering like those from Bed, Bath & Beyond.

    1. The Diptyque is wonderful but definitely $$$. I found a British car diffuser I love that is a leather and chrome mini steering wheel but it's $250.00.
