Tartan & Chinoiserie

Tartan DIY

I love bringing tartan elements into my home for the holidays. Tartan looks amazing with blue and white Chinese porcelain. Here is an easy and elegant idea - cover some books in tartan wrapping paper. Use them on your coffee table, entryway console table, bookshelves.... And of course it's a wonderful choice for wrapping gifts.

I especially like this 4 pack because it has cutting lines on the back.

I can't wait to start Christmas decorating. When do you start? My tradition is the day after Thanksgiving.

  1. I start planning in November but only on paper. The real decorating starts the day after Thanksgiving.

    1. Just like me - I have written everything up but waiting to start decorating.

  2. Tartan and blue & white filled with evergreens and red berries makes for a quintessential Christmas! I, too, have purchased the tartan wrap and ordered the perfect blue and red ribbons. It is a tradition to "gather the greens" the first week of December but I am not sure I can wait that long. Virginia is having a warm fall and I am so excited to get started on Christmas! Thank you for bringing your beauty to this blog!

    1. Such a classic. In Alexandria I always bought lots of fresh heather at the Scottish Walk greens sale to add to wreaths and greens.

  3. Started! 🤭 I made a swag wreath with wonderful realistic faux pines & brass jingle bells of varying sizes attached with red satin ribbon. Hung it on the inside of the front door, which is painted a soft black. I read that the Christmas season is starting earlier this year with early Black Fridays. I don't do Black Fridays, but I'm all into starting a little decorating early. It's too beautiful & enjoyable not to.
