Chinoiserie Halloween @ CCC

CCC

Yesterday I went to Whole Foods in search of wonderful heirloom pumpkins and boy did I hit pay dirt. It was like a tony non-messy adult pumpkin patch - thankfully, as I had just come from the hairdresser. They had the most gorgeous heirloom pumpkins from a farm in Illinois. My Norwegian grandmother Ada grew up on a farm in Illinois. There I was buying organic heirloom pumpkins from Illinois in South Florida - wild!

I also did a little Halloween decorating indoors. I bought these raffia pumpkins last year at Target and the stunning pagoda lanterns (now discontinued) are Bunny Williams for Ballard Designs.

I am using this white beauty in my foyer - it is 18" across.

And I popped into HomeGoods and found two new dog beds for the pups. Margot loves hers.

Here are my pumpkins at the front door. I hope to add blue ones from other sources like Publix when they get their shipments in.

My gardeners are arriving shortly with 200 bags of black mulch - I did it myself last fall - no thanks. Last weekend I had all of my palm tress pruned. There are always projects in the garden!

Jack Rogers is having a huge sale with 30% off one item and 40% off two items. Here are four great choices - I am nuts over these classic velvet smoking slippers - they can be worn indoors or out BTW. Comment with your guess for the two pairs I just ordered. Use code SPICE at checkout. I really love all of them.

  6. Beth. I love you’re pumpkin choices. I learned the hard way to put something under my outdoor pumpkins because it is still hot in S.C. Last Fall I went to move a pumpkin that looked perfect; when I lifted it, the thing had rotten and fell apart on my feet! Stinky!! It had stained my porch floor too.
    Love the dog beds!

    1. Messy - I have found that these heirloom pumpkins last very well. Also - make sure they are very clean. I wash mine with soap and water. You can also wipe with hand sanitizer or spray with a weak bleach solution. Bacteria is the real culprit.

  8. I love the pumpkins on the garden stools! If it weren't still in the 100s here, I would plop some down on my stools.
