When Life Gives You Lemons

Citrus Garden by Schumacher - Quintessence

When life gives you lemons, my favorite tip is to order the lobster tail.

Schumacher Citrus Garden by Josef Frank is an iconic archival pattern created in 1947. This charming and whimsical pattern was drawn entirely by hand. I have always been enchanted by the way it plays so well with chinoiserie. I especially love it paired with blue and white Chinese porcelain.

Citrus Garden is available in fabric and wallpaper but it is crazy expensive - it sells for $263.25 a yard and $856.99 per wallpaper panel. I personally prefer it in small doses as an accent like pillows, a tablecloth, or a side chair.

So!!!!!!!! Schumacher and Matouk have collaborated on table linens in Citrus Garden - placemats, napkins, and tablecloths in the Pool colorway that I love. The fabric is 100% linen BTW.

Pre-order them here - shipping September 13th. I am ordering a large round tablecloth for one of my skirted tables. I will likely use it in my living room. I have there now a silk Brunschwig & Fils table cover and it would be nice to change it out when I wish. As you will see, the prices are a faction of what they would be to purchase the fabric and have them made. For example, a tablecloth in a 90 inch round would be about $2,000 in materials and labor and this one is $264 in that size. Quite a difference!

  1. The table clothes would be a great and affordable way to make curtain panels.

    1. I was thinking the same thing! I saw a beautiful living room done with the Schumacher for Williams Sonoma tablecloths ( curtain panels) and napkins ( pillows).
