Probably my favorite purchase for my new home is this pair of brass palm tree sculptures from Williams Sonoma Home, that clearly pay homage to Maison Jansen (unfortunately no longer available).

I found this on 1stDibs currently on sale for $3,600 circa 1970 according to the listing by the Palm Beach antiques dealer seller.

Interestingly, it looks identical to the larger one of mine and is the exact same dimensions - mine was circa 2020 for about $300 for the pair. LOL

Here is one that looks just like my smaller one on 1stDibs for $1,500 attributed to Maison Jansen offered by a West Palm Beach dealer.
Neither piece is signed, so I am curious how they determine that they are 50 year old Maison Jansen as opposed to 1 year old Williams Sonoma Home. Especially since neither vintage piece shows patina to the brass or lucite. This below is the closest I can find that is clearly Maison Jansen circa 1970 for $6,600 on 1stDibs. Notice the patina and the black lacquer base which the vast majority have. I am not an expert, so I defer to them, but just wondering.
At any rate, I am delighted with mine.
Brass palm tree decor is super hot in decorating and vintage and antique versions can go from several thousand dollars to as much as tens of thousands of dollars. And it's not just for Floridians. It adds a Chinoiserie Chic - Hollywood Regency pizazz wherever you live. Here are some modern versions that I really like.

DeleteI have to be very careful reading your delicious blog. It's how I start my day. No coffee, no news, just straight off to Beth. Then I run around like crazy looking for how I can redecorate my home to make it look like yours. It has not worked so far, but today I struck gold. Or silver plate. My tarnished palm tree candle holders will get a polish and fresh candles. Then wearing my blue and white Natori kaftan I'll have my iced rose hip tea channeling you, hoping your daughter will have her shop open by the time I go visit my son in Old Town.

DeleteI've always loved palm trees, and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's their tall willowy quality, or that they conjure up the balmy tropics. They are not native to where I live, which is California, but you do see them, especially in SoCal. At any rate, the brass palms are truly fabulous. I especially love the one in the Elle Espana photo, and the pink ceramic one? YES!
