Sea Urchins

Mignonne Gavigan Sea Urchin Earrings

I treated myself to these darling sea urchin earrings. I love statement earrings and with all of my hair, they are a necessity to be seen. Sea urchin or uni is by far my favorite food. The best dish I ever had in my life was sea urchin poached in Champagne at Lutece in NYC and not far behind was sea urchin carbonara at Vetri in Philadelphia. (In lands far away and long ago pre-pandemic with travel and dining in restaurants). I also adore it raw as sushi, the way it is most often eaten.

For Mad Men fans (like me).

I also love sea urchins in fashion and design. They are my favorite seashell. Here is some inspiration. Click on caption links for full details or to order.

I have this Aerin sea urchin box - I believe it is sold out though.

  1. Vetri Cucina closed in Vegas during the pandemic, sad it was amazing food with a gorgeous view!

    1. Vegas has taken it on the chin during Covid. I have been to the Philly one many many times and love it. I remember every dish I ever had there it has been so memorable. Their gnocchi is the best I have ever had anywhere. House made squid ink linguine with wild boar ragu I remember well.

  3. Beth, I wasn't able to find the source for the sea urchin shells when I clicked on the image. Is the source not available? Thanks.

    1. That was just to show everyone what the shells look like - there are very many sellers on Etsy, eBay, etc. that sell the shells and I do not have a specific source to recommend.
