Now this is fun - Le Creuset colors based on your zodiac sign. I am a Pisces so mine is Ombré Blue - gorgeous. I would love to find a piece in this color.
Well, as my HomeGoods gods would have it, I found two stunning Le Creuset pieces at fantastic prices this week at my HG in Venice.
A 6.75 quart dutch oven in Marseille and a 3.5 quart braiser in Ocean, each for $150 at HomeGoods - both retail for about $400 and both are beautiful blues. HomeGoods comes through again.

The Le Creuset Outlet in Ellenton, Florida was fabulous. The Factory to Table Sale is currently going on in the outlet stores and starts online August 18th. I spent an hour there chatting with the manager and taking in all the beautiful eye candy. And it was so great seeing all the colors and styles in person.
I got a tagine in Cobalt Blue. One of my favorite restaurants in Old Town Alexandria was North African cuisine. In my tagine I will be cooking one dish slow cooked meals of chicken, lamb, or fish with vegetables and spices. And I'm super excited to learn about cooking this cuisine. Does anyone have a tagine?

In terms of prices, lots of excellent prices, but the truly exceptional deals at the outlet were the "non-core" pieces. All of these pieces were an additional 40% off of the outlet price, so my tagine that is $350 on Amazon, I paid $120 at the outlet and also got $30 play money towards my next purchase. So the more exotic pieces were the best deals. For the basics, like dutch ovens, braisers, saucepans, and such, I would keep my eyes open online at places like Amazon and sales at Sur La Table and Williams Sonoma and keep an eye out at your HomeGoods.

The pups are going for spa day today so I will have the opportunity to pop into two HomeGoods near their salon. Fun day today for me. It sounds like a rainy weekend here from tropical storm Fred.
I have the same tagine in tomato red, so appetizing! I use it prepare succulent lamb and chickpea dishes with apricots or figs.
ReplyDeleteMy le Creuset Dutch ovens are almost shot from years of high-temperature bread baking. They have served as the workhorses of my cookery for decades. Best wishes from a sister Piscean!
Do you bake the no knead bread recipe from the NY Times? I started out making that dish in my Le Creuset, but have found that a stainless steel pan with lid works just as well.
DeleteHi, Susan. I used to make Jim Lahey’s wonderful no-knead bread in the le Creuset all the time. These days, I make Alexandra’s Mother’s Peasant Bread, from the Alexandra Cooks blog. I can start it after breakfast and eat it at lunch. Fabulous! Cheers.
DeletePlease share that recipe with this Piscean sister. Anything cooked with apricots and figs. Be still my heart.
DeleteI agree - I would love that recipe and a recommendation on a tagine cookbook - there are quite a few.
DeleteI hope you have a spot to display all these wonderful pieces - the colors are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm debating where they go - they are too pretty to hide away.
DeleteI absolutely adore following all of your fun adventures.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
DeleteI’m a Pisces too and I like our blue, but I really love the white for Virgo😍
ReplyDeleteWhite cookware sounds challenging in terms of keeping it pristine though.
DeleteI don’t disagree…
DeleteAl Spok ILOVE THE BLUE !
ReplyDeleteThey have so many beautiful blues too.
DeleteLove following your adventures! Always interesting , informational and ever so engaging. Your treasures this week are beautiful additions. I can not wait to see them displayed.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and thanks for following!
DeleteThey are certainly beautiful. (Help - I need a spa day!)
ReplyDeleteThe pups look great although Harper apparently had a panic attack when I left even though she's been there many times - she doesn't like being away from me.
DeleteI tried cleaning the dutch oven with water and bleach after too many bread baking and ruined the pot! So interesting about the Virgo white as I am a Virgo and always buy the white! I am due for a new dutch oven and wish we had a HomeGoods like yours Beth
ReplyDeleteI love my Le Creuset as well. I use mine mostly for baking bread but have some pieces for grilling, etc. I have purchased at all the places you have been searching but found my favorite piece and best deal on Ebay, sold by a woman who had worked for them and was paring down her stash. These are wonderful products!
ReplyDeleteI may look on eBay for discontinued colors.
DeleteWhy does a Sagittarius have to have boring stainless steel?
ReplyDeleteI started laughing when I saw that.
