Chic Red, White & Blue

CCC

Red, white and blue, perhaps more than any other color combination, can go so terribly wrong, looking kitschy and tacky and not at all sophisticated and elegant. But done well, it can be a wonderful combination - classic, crisp, and preppy.

These are my two top tips. First, create a blue and white room with pops of red. Second, rethink those miniature American flags stuck into things.

So here, for Fourth of July weekend, is some chic red, white, and blue with chinoiserie of course.

  1. Love it all but I especially covet that red glass-topped coffee table! I’ve already done a quick online search but have come up with nothing resembling it. Do you know where it might be available? Thanks for all the inspirational beauty, Beth, and happy 4th!

    1. Discontinued Horchow, but the Well Appointed House has a company I have worked with that sells gorgeous outdoor metal furniture in Chinese Chippendale and a zillion colors.

  3. I just love that blue floral chinoiserie wallpaper in Christopher Maya's room for House Beautiful. Do you happen to know what it is? And that red lantern in Tobi Fairley's entry hall is beautiful too.

    2. LOVE. EVERY INCH of your fabulous table. Would you share tablecloth and plate info? And may I join you for dinner? I’ll bring the cocktails! I’m just a bit North of Boston—where rain is the weekend weather—but it would be so worth it! Kudos to you, Beth.

    3. Thanks so much. This is hysterical - the gorgeous tablecloth is a Ralph Lauren queen size duvet I got at HomeGoods. The ikat plates I got at Williams Sonoma in blue, red, green, and gray for under $5.00 a plate. I got tons for entertaining. My late husband's family are all in north of Boston suburbs.
