Pasotti Umbrella |
I posted a while back about liking and collecting unique umbrellas. My favorites are a collection of Scalamadre Zebras.
In response to my umbrella post, I received a comment about the very beautiful Italian Pasotti umbrellas. They are pure luxury, hand made, limited edition and very $$$$. I had never seen one in person anywhere! The Flamingo is featured above. He retails for about $400. Imagine my surprise when I just found two Pasotti umbrellas at....................
HomeGoods - LOL. I was seriously floored. Here they are in my foyer in my blue and white Chinese porcelain umbrella stand. I am gobsmacked. Truly bizarre to find them there. They really are little works of art - the detailing is amazing.
I hope to find more like the flamingo but am delighted. This definitely counts as one of my most unique HG finds. It is right up there with my iconic Kate Spade Cloverdale gold dot vase and my stunning Ralph Lauren gold leaf pagoda chandelier. What is your most special HomeGoods find?

I would love to shop with you!
ReplyDeleteCome on down!
DeleteLucky you! I love those umbrellas. I bought two fabulous Lenox lamps, shades included for $75 each about 15 years ago. I still love them as much as I did when I bought them. Sadly, though, the HomeGoods near me has gone way, way down. I hardly bother to go anymore. Total junk.
ReplyDeleteI love Lenox and bought a Lenox lamp at HG years ago too.
DeleteWow, wow, and wow. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove the umbrellas! Sadly the Home Goods near me is filled with dreck.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. Mine were great in NOVA too.
DeleteI've never found anything fabulous at the local HG...sad but true. Happy for you though!
ReplyDeleteThey do vary from location to location for sure.
DeleteSince it's the same group I have to relate my bizarre Marshall's story. I went in one morning and they had an Hermes scarf! Can't possibly imagine how it ended up on their sales floor. The Home Goods store is right next door and I keep looking for a find but generally it's the same old stuff. I have to admit I had never heard of Pasotti before. The Italians do luxury goods better than the French, I think.
ReplyDeleteHermes scarf?! Jealous I am! My Marshall's is hit and miss, but last year I found an Anabelle Ingall Large Isabella tote that normally retails for $465 marked at $39. I'm not sure how these items make it into the stores, but it's fun to find them!
DeleteThat is incredible. My HomeGood's is attached to a TJMaxx and is great too - loaded with J. Crew and Lilly Pulitzer and Free People - all favorites of mine.
DeletePasotti makes beautiful umbrellas. I knew they were expensive, but was not aware that they were that expensive! I'm so envious that you have such a fabulous HG store near you. I don't even bother going to mine. It's off the beaten track, and there's really not much there. I don't know how HG determines which merchandise goes to which stores.
ReplyDeleteMy personal take on it—based solely on my limited observation—is that the wealthier the area, the better the stock. Having said that, though, the wealthy areas near me don’t have a spectacular selection either, but it is marginally better than less wealthy areas. Rarely worth a trip here.
DeleteI've asked that exact question. I lived in Houston at one time and TJ Maxx in River Oaks was beyond belief. It's supposed to be done on zip code, income levels, etc. I have generally found it to be correct. I have sometimes found perfumes that, like the Hermes scarf, that I never see discounted. I see have yet to score at Home Goods.
DeleteSarasota is the number one place in the country to retire according to many publications and lots of people here decorating first and second homes. People's carts are often overflowing. And there is new stock every hour.
DeleteI have found so many treasures in Home Goods that I don’t know where to start: Waterford crystal, Frette bed linens, Vera Bradley, fabulous pearl necklaces and 14K gold coin’s earrings and necklaces (at TJMAXX), I could go on and on...
ReplyDeleteMy most unique find were two fabulous 4ft tall urns I bought to place in the Church altar for my daughter’s wedding. They were so amazing that the store manager asked to borrow them when his daughter was married a year later!
Do you shop at all the local ones? I prefer Venice, but Bee Ridge and UTC are great too.
DeleteWow I am so happy for you Beth and my experience at HG has not been anything like yours.....darn it!
ReplyDeleteI bought two blue and white Ralph Lauren lamps at HG, that I have since seen in two other bloggers' homes' photos.
ReplyDeleteYes, and the RL lamps keep turning up - I have many!
DeleteWOW!!! That amazing LUCK strikes again!
ReplyDeleteLOL.
DeleteNo umbrellas of any kind at my Home Goods. Went to the new HomeSense after it opened. Pretty much filled with Easter. Of the three (now four stores) I like Marshall's best.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen umbrellas before - I suspect this was a one-off.
