The Chinoiserie Dining Room

This stunning dining room features Gracie wallpaper in a custom orange and Bungalow 5 loop chairs. Frances Elkins style loop chairs are such a favorite of mine. I bet this dining room is gorgeous at night too. The black fireplace surround is wonderful - black and orange are the perfect duo.

    Beautiful dinning room, I too was thinking it would be gorgeous at night while dinning. Truly a statement room.

    I came back to get a better look at that fabulous mirror. Intertwined snakes! I don't think I've ever seen that motif on a mirror before.

    This says they're entwined mythical dolphins, not snakes. I'm obsessed with this!

      I just googled snake mirrors and serpent mirrors. I guess I got lucky because I found the info about entwined mythical dolphins on the scully and scully website in a couple of minutes.

      It was Admiral Nelson's emblem in the eighteenth century and became a symbol of British naval superiority.

    I love thee mirror. The motifs look like dragons, very, Chinese and very auspicious. They symbolize strength, power and wealth. They may call them mythical dolphins, but it’s just like foo dogs/Chinese lions. I think “foo dogs” and “mythical dolphins” are what western decorators call them.
