A Tiny Bit of Normalcy

Danielle Rollins

Yesterday, after the appropriate waiting period after my second Moderna shot, I got my hair colored, cut and blow dried, my eyebrows threaded, a manicure and pedicure. I am thrilled. I feel like me again. (BTW we were all masked).

On the way home, I ran into HomeGoods. I have been wanting to find a blue and white Suzani to cover my Warren Platner table in the breakfast room to change it up sometimes. I love a beautiful skirted table. So far, I have found the right size and color of Suzanis to be quite elusive. Here was my one of my inspiration photos below.

I found something at HG that might just work. So today, I am going to have some fun and try to transform my breakfast room in one day. I will take some before and after photos of the breakfast room and try to do a one day makeover. Hopefully I will post tomorrow. Hopefully being the operative word.

Here is a hint on my HomeGoods find. India Hicks has used a tablecloth on this bed as a duvet.

  1. Excited for tomorrow's post! It sounds like you had a lovely day. You deserve ever moment of pampering. You are a smart woman, we know you continue to be safe, and we know you know your own community. Some in this world enjoy being the police over others, not sure why that brings them joy?

  2. I look forward to seeing your one day makeover. I have one more week before my second dose of vaccine takes effect. I am also going to make an appointment for color and cut and my hair! It's not terrible as it is--but why not really improve things. Your blog has been a bright spot for me during the last 12 months. Thank you!

  3. I can't wait to see the one day makeover! How exciting for you! I got my second shot of Pfizer vaccine last week and a hair cut is at the top of my list of things to do once the waiting period is over. It's been over a year since I've stepped into a salon.

  6. I can do one better than a tablecloth as a bed cover: a shower curtain as a tablecloth! I bought two beautiful blue Ikat shower curtains at Target and draped them over the pair of antique glass-top tables we use on the porch. A perfectionist would want a longer, circular cloth under the Ikats, but it’s so warm outside that I don’t want the extra bulk and breeze-blocking length. Best of all, the Ikats are machine washable and touch up quickly with a cool iron. My pattern is gone now, but “the Targe” has many handsome patterns in stock. Best wishes.
