No, I don't think anything will ever replace blue and white. It is a classic that has stood the test of time. But lately I am increasingly drawn to celadon. Especially in tropical locales, look how nicely it plays with wicker, seashells, palm fronds, and the popular braided seagrass basket. I have found a couple pieces lately at HomeGoods to add to my collection. It would also be lovely with a collection of sea glass.
Here is more inspiration.

I found two gorgeous gardenia bushes yesterday at Lowe's including a rare one, and am looking forward to getting them planted behind the lanai today. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.
I used Sherwin Williams Sea Salt in the main areas of my home. It's a chameleon that is a little more neutral, but in some light it reads as celedon. It is a lovely background for my blue and white pieces and looks great with my large wicker baskets and Asian antiques. Celedon is calming and provides a place for the eye to rest so they really set off more dramatic pieces.
ReplyDeleteSea Salt is a great color. And it does make a perfect backdrop.
DeleteI love, love, love celadon! So calming
ReplyDeleteYes and it works beautifully with blue and white.
DeleteSo pretty. Celadon is one of my favorite colors and looks so fab with blue and white too.
ReplyDeleteI love Sherwin Williams Sea Salt like Sharon mentioned above. I used SW Window Pane on the whole first floor of my last house and it too was a great color that read blue, celadon green or grey depending on the time of day.
I love colors that change depending on the light.
DeleteLove that you pointed out how well celadon works in the tropics. One of my favorite pieces is a large tiger Nautilis in a celadon bowl. Congratulations on the gardenias, can’t wait to see pictures once they are planted.
ReplyDeleteI planted them yesterday. I was thrilled to find a large double Tahitian at Lowe's.
DeleteI found those celadon garden stools at Home Goods last year for $29 each...they look great in the dining area!
ReplyDeleteLucky you! They’re beautiful.
DeleteThose were a great find.
DeleteSo glad to see the celadon examples. Green is my favorite along with jades & green & white porcelain. So many beautiful shades in celadon. Love your posts; I learn so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I too love green - I also love emerald.
DeleteI wonder if the fabulous table/console is a Nierman Weeks piece? Terrific piece.
ReplyDeleteIt is a stunning piece.
