Someone commented yesterday asking how many bar carts I have. Isn't there a famous expression "You can't have too many bar carts or shoes"?
I personally think bar carts are very chic and functional which is a win-win. Besides a bar, use them as
*A bedside table
*A coffee bar
*A tea cart
*For towels and toiletries
*For serving
*For displaying objets
My new bar cart is en route to me and I'm looking forward to getting it. Above is wonderful styling of a rattan bar cart for entertaining. I love how she has included a couple of pieces of blue and white Chinese porcelain and orchids.
A funny story - I posted yesterday about wanting an Old Man Palm. Right after posting, I texted my landscape guy about seeing one at Lowe's. He told me in Miami and environs they charge in the thousands for one. He hopped in his truck and I hopped in my Audi and we flew over to Lowe's Venice and bought it and he delivered it back here to CCC. He is planting it in a couple of hours.
I need a palm that can be planted close to the house for my side yard project and it will be ideal.
Another funny story - "HomeGoods and Gardens." I needed a black urn for the backyard for a Eugenia topiary - I planted two stunning black elephant ears in the same area of the garden. I popped into HomeGoods yesterday and found this urn and moss. It cracked me up that I am even finding gardening items there.
The weather here has turned perfect. It will be 80 degrees and sunny every day this next week. I could get used to this. I'm on vacation every day.

Congratulations on all your great finds!!! Can’t wait to see the Old Man Palm and all the other additions to your home and garden. We live in West Palm Beach and have two gardenia bushes in the yard for over 16 years. The landscapers trim them and that’s about it, not even sure if they are fertilized and they have bloomed consistently.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to add gardenias to my garden. Thanks.
DeleteIsn't it amazing how things fall into place with no planning? Like they say it was meant to be.
ReplyDeleteIt was a whirlwind, but worked out beautifully.
DeleteThe only problem with that bar cart is the TEENY bottle of Bombay Sapphire! I buy the largest bottle they make!! #itsfiveoclocksomewhere
ReplyDeleteLOL. That bottle is very small.
DeletePersonally, I think HG has zoned in on you to be the ultimate market test! (Psssst, if Beth buys it, it's a go!) Glad your shopping Karma has returned. Great score with the palm, a truck, a younger strong back, and time to get that new old man in the ground. Sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteAll very true, but it is amazing how strong and limber I have gotten doing things for myself. I can lift and carry things I couldn't before. I love it. And having a great handyman and gardener helps tremendously as well. And the palm looks wonderful!
DeleteYou are a very lucky shopper, Beth! What great finds! I love your urn and can't wait to,see the Old Man palm in place. Have a happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThanks - and the urn was marked down to $30!
DeleteWe have a cold-hardy palm in our backyard in North Central TX that is similar in appearance, but is Trachycarpus fortunei. They retailed at $100/ft when we bought them a few years ago. Some people prune off the hairy leaf bases, but we haven't done that as they are a nice contrast to other palms in our yard.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the book Designing with Palms, by Jason Dewees? It is a good reference. Lots of photos and lists of public gardens to visit. Quite a few in FL, of course!
That is a stunning palm and very similar. Thank you for the book suggestion. I am off to source it. I belong to the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens here and have reciprocals all over Florida and love going to gardens more than anything.
DeleteI found it on Amazon and ordered it. Thanks - looks like a great resource.
DeleteLeave it to the supremely confident Bunny Williams to mount a botanical on a backing of kraft paper corrugated cardboard. I don't see THAT taking off as a trend but, as to trends, I AM seeing a lot more white frames around these days.
ReplyDeleteYou have a good eye - I like white frames a lot and think the Ikea Ribba frames in white are the best!
DeleteLove your Xback black chairs. Are you able to share the source?
ReplyDeleteOf course, but they are sadly Smith & Hawken - that might have been my favorite store ever.
DeleteTarget has some very handsome Xback black metal outdoor chairs, which I saw in the store this summer. When I last checked you could order them online.
