A long but good day yesterday - we planted the new Old Man palm plus three more palms and the three Brugmansias below, and relocated that large croton that was blocking my lanai view.
I need to tear myself away from the garden and get back to some projects inside, but the weather is no nice now for gardening - Wednesday will be a high of only 78 degrees - I might have to get out a fur coat - LOL. This week I will do some promised posts - part 2 of Amanda Lindroth, Tory Burch raffia placemat lookalikes, my Amanda Lindroth Island tray styling, and sources for the seashell place card holders.
My rattan bar cart arrives today, so I am looking forward to seeing it in person and styling it.
The seashell orb is a new HomeGoods find. I have always loved decorating with seashells. Now in Florida I can let that freak flag fly. I posted a while back a photo where they had "mulched" a topiary with small seashells - Dollar Tree here sells bagged seashells - I might try that. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

P.S. Help needed - all the guys here are always pressure washing their sidewalks and driveways so they are pristine and I want a pressure washer of my very own. Girl power! Any recommendations on a lightweight/compact/preferably electric one I can use to regularly do my walks and drive?
Ryobi 1600 psi Electric Pressure Washer, $129.00 at Home Depot. That and the Stihl lightweight battery operated blower, the best outdoor purchases ever for a 60+ fit and active gal.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!!!!!! I am on it!
DeleteThank you so much for this information, Nancy R.! This fit, active, 60+ gal is in the market, too. Beth, as usual your wonderful blog is chock full of useful information!
DeleteI love your seashell orb! you may be interested in this article on Scents in the Garden by Margaret Roach, author of The Way to Garden book and blog. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/10/realestate/create-fragrant-garden-nice-smelling-plants.html
DeleteThank you! Great info about the power washer and the blower.
DeleteDesign Doctor - great article - thanks - I have many of his books BTW.
DeleteFor seashell inspiration check out Christa's South Seashells on Chairish... especially the busts.
ReplyDeleteTotally in LOVE with everything in that shop. It's magic. I am saved from myself at the moment since there's 0 room here for another thing but in the next place...well...I'll have to be literally restrained from going overboard with that look.
DeleteReally fabulous. I posted a seashell bust years ago from And George in Charlottesville that I intend to replicate myself, but have never found a bust I like.
DeleteLOVE the seashell orb! What a fun find!
ReplyDeleteThanks - so much seashell decor is so tacky. This is elegant.
DeleteBeth, the seashell orb is so lovely and and lends itself to many fun placements
ReplyDeleteIt had occurred to me that one could actually create a topiary using the seashell orb as a ball...or a double and a branch (for trunk) from the garden which (if you wanted to go all out) you could paint and fashion to look like a coral branch.
Some ladies go for quilting get togethers but I could definitely dig doing decor related projects...over cocktails and canapes, of course.
Is there Champagne and caviar involved or at least smoked salmon? I did a post years ago on faux coral out of branches. A great look in a massive blue and white ginger jar.
Deletelove the sea shell orbe!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteNo pressure washer? No problem! Pressure washing causes pavement to deteriorate faster. I found something even better! Lowe’s 30 second cleaner! It works! All you need is a garden hose. Buy the clearer with the hose attachment. Buy the larger gallon size for refills. I sound like a spokesperson! P.S. wear old clothes.
