This guest/kids' bedroom is absolutely amazing. Let's look more closely at some of its elements:
*A pair of rattan and wicker beds
*A palette of pink and orange
*Lots of stripes
*A pair of wicker chairs
*A Chinese Chippendale table
*Wicker lampshades
*A bamboo curtain rod
*Palm wallpaper
*A window seat
*THE MOST STUNNING PALM CEILING FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am planning an upcoming post on chic ceiling fans. In hot climates, they are a necessity in the home. I will share my tips on making them look great like in this bedroom as opposed to being clunky eyesores which IMO most are. I have about a dozen in this house and have replaced many of them. Have you found ceiling fans that you like??
Can you tell us where this fan can be purchased?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea if it is new or vintage, sorry. It sure is fun!
DeleteI ca6nt wait for your ceiling fan post! I have a love/hate relationship with them!
ReplyDeleteAs do I and I suspect, most people. But they are growing on me and I really like many I have used. Hopefully you will agree.
DeleteFanimation has stopped making my favorite fan, The Cancun. It was perfect -- only 42", super simple, the perfect shade of white for most rooms. I look forward to seeing what else you come up with. BTW, I always install my fans with a remote control with a thermometer. (Westinghouse makes one.) If the temperature gets to warm at night, the fan automatically turns on.
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas. Totally agree.
DeleteBeth, I adore so many elements in this room! This is Chinoiserie done RIGHT.
ReplyDeleteI have two daughters who are now grown but I still have one bedroom in my house decorated with wicker twin beds. I love the Chinoiserie/tropical vibe in this room. I also had a window seat in my bedroom growing up which I loved.
I am looking forward to your ceiling fan post.
Yes, it's a lovely room. I like that it would be enjoyed by children or adults.
DeleteThis room has such a sunny, upbeat quality. It would feel very happy in here, and yes, the ceiling fan is wonderful. Is it an antique or vintage piece that has been refurbished, or something that can be purchased?
ReplyDeleteNot sure, I did not find any info on it, but will keep looking.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear some sense when it comes to ceiling fans. Yes, so many are ugly but they're vital in hot places.
ReplyDeleteI like to get really, really plain white ones that just blend in with the ceiling. Of course, I love the example shown here.
Having them disappear is definitely a good choice. I will show some like that as well.
DeleteFabulous room!!! And I can't wait to read your post about ceiling fans. Whenever I think of them, I think of the movie Casablanca!
ReplyDeleteBeth, this room is beautiful! As a Floridian and Bahama Island frequenter, I love all things Amanda Lindroth. One thing though, I am not convinced that the ceiling fixture is actually a fan. It could be a really cool light fixture, designed to cast light onto the ceiling. I don't see that the palm fronds have the angle required to catch air as a fan would. I could be wrong though.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing, but it has served as inspiration to do a post on chic ceiling fans. She uses lots of fans in her decor, so I was assuming it was one, but I agree that the fronds are not angled right.
DeleteI thought it was a light fixture!! But yes, ceiling fans are tough!! We live in Atlanta so they are a must have but most designers/bloggers say just take them down and that isn't realistic for our family. We need the air to move even when AC is on. I would love to see a post. I have a rattan style one in my family room but everywhere else I just opted for white so they would hopefully blend in with the ceiling. But white fans are soooo hard to keep clean.
ReplyDeleteYes in Florida we need them. I can't wait to see your ceiling fan post.
ReplyDeleteYes, they make a huge difference as I have discovered.
