The March issue of House Beautiful All About Blue, while well done enough, lacked rooms that knocked my socks off. Blue rooms and Chinoiserie are such a natural. Here are some of my favorites. Above, a room that has stood the test of time, the Chinese Room at Claydon House by John Fowler.

Once again, thanks for the gorgeous eye candy! I'm feeling better about the blue I chose for my Den walls thanks to this post!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Such a wonderful start to the week!
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about the HB. Left me feeling blue. I'm not a pastel girl, but shouts of cobalt make me happy. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteLove them all, room three and four are really wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteEach image took my breath away!
ReplyDeleteI love this look so much.
Annie Selkie's room is all me. I've always described my style as chinoiserie coastal!!
Great post!!
I thought there was something wrong with me that I wasn't wowed by this issue either. Glad I am not alone. Beautiful images. Especially love the 2nd Aerin Lauder one and the Mary McDonald office is divine!
ReplyDeleteAll wonderfully inspiring, Beth. And I agree with you -- HB's March issue definitely needed some gorgeous Chinoiserie-inspired rooms!
ReplyDeleteGreat line up of the blues.
ReplyDeleteAll of these rooms are like little jewels! Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm a huge fan of blue rooms (my son has a navy blue room and my daughter has a very regal blue for her bedroom)...the images you have shared are beautiful...I especially love the third one!
ReplyDeletethey're all gorgeous! you've just re-defined "blue monday"...thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously drooling over that first room wall color. it's so rich and just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love your perspective. Maybe you should start a weekly or monthly entry on reader's chinoiserie(sp) vignettes. The omnipresent belgian look is not leaving much room in the magazines for other styles of decorating, so it is fun to find this here.
ReplyDeleteAdding you to my blogroll
ReplyDeleteD.B.-My family room is an ice blue with lots of chocolate brown leather and I love it.
ReplyDeleteVickie-Thanks-glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHome Before Dark-A bit dull which it need not be.

ReplyDeleteAverill-I thought it all looked alike.
ReplyDeleteCC-Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHamptontoes-I especially love blue bedrooms.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jones-That would have been a great title for the post.
ReplyDeleteAmanda-I love that color.
ReplyDeleteThe Shiny Pebble-Thanks for stopping by. I see one more gray room with grain sacks I swear I will gag.
ReplyDeleteHey Beth nicely curated collection of blue chinoiserie...rare to find!
ReplyDeleteLOL on the gray rooms with grain sacks!!! roflmao!
