I will go on record to say that I hate the look of all white Christmas decorations. The same goes for white and silver or ice blue and white. I find this look cold, sterile, lifeless, and creepy. White is not the only choice if red and green do not work in your home. Carolyne Roehm has wonderful examples of non-traditional Christmas color combinations that are elegant, sophisticated, Chinoiserie, and not afraid of color.
Blue and white is wonderful-but use the beautiful blue and white of Chinese porcelain and cobalt blue glassware.
Caroylne Roehm's living room is a great example of using color with the green sofas, blue and white porcelain, and elegant tree and gifts.
Red flowers with blue and white Chinese porcelain are stunning. My favorites are red roses, amaryllis, and carnations.
An all red approach is so Chinoiserie, chic, and perfect for Christmas.

BEAUTIFUL IMAGES! Carolyne Rhoehm normally turns the mundane into something spectacular, she seems to be a few steps ahead of the pack. And I second you on the white on white on white Christmas decor, after all, it is still white! But what difference a dash of colour makes!

I'm a fan of just about any color combination, so long as it's done well and in good taste (after all, colors are generally what you make of them). This year, I'm doing a lot of blue and white, with plenty of greenery of course. But in the past I've done more golds, bronzes and browns as well as the traditional red and green. At some point I'd love to do purple and gold, but it's a tricky combination that can easily veer towards Mardi Gras.
