Sarah Klassen of Haute Design tagged me to post on 6 uninteresting things I love. Since this blog is entirely Chinoiserie, it is going to be 6 of my favorite Chinoiserie everyday things, of course.
1. I wanted my calling cards to reflect my love of Chinoiserie. These from Iomoi are wonderful-my personal calling card has the pink pagoda and our Style Redux blog card has SR and double elephants. The second and third photos are closeups from Iomoi's website so you can see them better. I am having Iomoi do darling cards for Chinoiserie Chic as well.
2. My Tibetan Spaniel Isabella (Izzy). This breed originated in the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet. They often lived in monasteries, trailing behind their Lama masters. They are thought to resemble the Chinese guardian lions or Foo lions. They were regarded as dogs of great value and prestige.
3. Writing is such a pleasure with my Chinoiserie inspired red lacquer Elsa Peretti pen from Tiffany & Co.
4. I love Asian food of all kinds and it tastes so much better eating with beautiful chopsticks.
5. I love scented candles and keep a box of these chic Chinoiserie matches from Iomoi next to each one-makes lighting them a pleasure!
6. I am a big list maker and love to use beautiful memo pads like these from Iomoi which you can see here next to my computer.
What common, everyday things bring pleasure to your life? I'd love to hear!
I am a huge fan of Iomoi! They're patterns are just beautiful! I'm sure you've seen the ginger jar lucite tray on the website because it seems right up your alley!
ReplyDeleteS & S-I love their lucite trays. Thanks for stopping by. Are you a DC blogger?
ReplyDeleteLove Izzy. Are they big dogs? You and I obviously share a love for Macs as well as chinoiserie! Thanks for brightening up a dull day!
ReplyDeleteKitty-Izzy is 12 pounds. She is an angel. I love Macs-have never had anything but. Now with the iPhone I'm in heaven.
ReplyDeleteThat's it, I have GOT to do some shopping on Iomoi. They're stuff is just beautiful (love the pink pagoda in particular)!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Beth!
Averill-Their things are beautiful-check out the website. They are lovely to do business with as well. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteDo you really hand out blog cards? I've been wanting an excuse to order some (love iomoi as well), but thought it might be a bit much???
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you ever posted on chinoiserie-inspired china patterns? Forgive me if I missed a post on it - I do love me a nice Imari! ;)
MLHP-I hand them out to everyone. Are you suggesting I'm a bit much? LOL I think they're incredibly chic and elegant. Everyone I give one to is blown away by the Iomoi designs. I am not a I'll write it down on a piece of paper kind of girl-I wear high heels and red lipstick everywhere! So it suits my style to have great blog cards to hand out, as I love to talk about my blogs. As for Chinoiserie china patterns, it is on my list. You have not missed it. I hope to get to it soon. Stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteI get beautiful little brocade notebooks from Pearl River and use them for keeping notes for meetings, etc. Simple, inexpensive and elegant.
ReplyDeleteOK, SOLD on the blog cards! If I find I don't get anywhere with them in Brazil, I'm sure my Mother would love handing out such little beauties!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Meg-I love Pearl River as well. They are a great source for inexpensive and chic Chinoiserie items. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteIomoi is another fav but I did see the Seda France Pagoda on your counter too!!! Great box, great fragrances!!!
Alicia-Izzy is quite the dictator, but also adorable. I almost included the Seda France candles in my list. You have a good eye! What fragrances do you like? My faves are Japanese Quince and French Tulip, but I like many of them.

Allison-We both have cute little dogs. Iomoi is definitely my taste.
ReplyDeleteI love having nice chopsticks around. It makes eating out of the Chinese container while drinking too much wine on my own feel so much better.
ReplyDeleteI cannot live without Tiffany Champagne flutes that I bought for myself, and glass blown lamps on my bed stand that cast the best glow.
Abby-Great choices!
ReplyDeleteSomehow I completely missed this post - glad I found it now. Please do a post on your new business cards when you get them - love to see them. I have a little list of Iomoi things to order!
ReplyDeleteThose tulips trees at the top are just beautiful.
SF-Iomoi is wonderful-I will show them when I get them. I love tulipieres-will do a post on them.
