This photo shows a wonderful idea to use in a dining room or bedroom perhaps, if you are considering having Chinoiserie hand painted or stenciled. The door becomes a pagoda, an icon of Chinoiserie. I think it's a great idea to turn the door into a design asset, instead of a nuisance breaking up your Chinoiserie design.
Incredibly elegant! I love the swinging door and oval window with it as well - I believe it leads to a kitchen, no?
ReplyDeleteNow this is a great use of Chinoiserie! Even on it's own it would be a beautiful doorway.
ReplyDeletefun idea. very clever.
ReplyDeleteOoooooohhhhhh!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the door! Reminds me of Graham Rust's chinoiserie room in Ixworth Abbey. He had six doors to incorporate!
ReplyDeleteSarah-I had this in my files and don't know where it came from, but I think it's a restaurant or hotel and it leads into a kitchen. But the idea would work on any door.
ReplyDeleteSande-It would indeed be very elegant just using this for the door and nowhere else.
ReplyDeleteG.-I think it's very whimsical and chic.
ReplyDeleteAlicia-Great reaction!
ReplyDeleteTheresa-Do you have a photo? I don't see it on his website. I love his work and would love to see it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! What a wonderful feel it would give a room.
ReplyDeleteI can't even vacation without staying up to date on Chinoiserie :)
