Velvet slippers, often called smoking slippers or tuxedo slippers, are a great look this time of year. They can be dressed up or down, and are always an elegant choice. I love these heart navy ones with Valentine's Day on the way.

Ginger Jar Loafers

I always find it fun when I find a great wardrobe addition that is Chinoiserie Chic. Last year, Jack Rogers came out with velvet ginger jar loafers in navy blue. I got a pair and love them. They are very comfortable, and can be worn indoors as velvet smoking slippers or out as street shoes. They can be dressed up or down, from jeans to dressy dresses.

Yesterday I went to Whole Foods in search of wonderful heirloom pumpkins and boy did I hit pay dirt. It was like a tony non-messy adult pumpkin patch - thankfully, as I had just come from the hairdresser. They had the most gorgeous heirloom pumpkins from a farm in Illinois. My Norwegian grandmother Ada grew up on a farm in Illinois. There I was buying organic heirloom pumpkins from Illinois in South Florida - wild!
