The Ladylike Trend - The Midas Touch

Gold Fringe Skirt

Gold is not just for jewelry. Gold pieces for your wardrobe can be a very elegant addition. They are great for the fall and also perfect for the holidays. The key to wearing gold is to stay away from sexy and slinky - keep it sophisticated. Here are some pieces I love - a couple I plan to add to my closet.

The Ladylike Trend - Chocolate Brown

Chocolate One Shoulder Maxi Dress

Chocolate brown is an incredibly elegant and sophisticated alternative to black and is wonderful for the fall. It is also super flattering - softer and less harsh than black. Here are some beautiful choices.

The Ladylike Trend - The Corduroy Dress

Brown Corduroy Clifton Dress

I love corduroy for the fall. It is so comfortable and such a classic and just gets better over time. I have found a great cord dress that will be your go-to choice for everything.

The Ladylike Trend - Embellishments

Powder Pink Embellished Nicola Dress

I love the simplicity of a great dress. One clothing piece and add accessories and you are good to go. The embellished dress takes it one step further, eliminating the need for jewelry. Add shoes and a handbag and you are elegantly dressed. The definition of an "embellishment" is "something added to make another thing more beautiful or interesting, or the process of doing this." Here are some great options.

The Ladylike Trend - Leopard

Leopard Marlowe Dress & Harley Peacoat

Leopard is a hot trend for this fall and winter. I love leopard, but it is a look that IMHO one needs to approach in an understated and elegant way. I posted recently on leopard calf hair accessories that I love. See that post here. When it comes to clothing, I stay as far away from sexy and slinky in leopard as I can. I keep it classic. Here are some great examples of leopard with style that keep it very classy. Think Audrey Hepburn in her leopard hat in Charade.

The Ladylike Trend - The Cashmere Wrap

Hot Pink Cashmere Blanket Scarf

I love the ladylike look in fashion. This is a favorite element - a cashmere wrap. This is such a versatile piece - it can be worn as a stole or as oversized scarf, with everything from jeans to a cocktail dress. This is a travel essential, great for a long flight. Also perfect for a chilly office, restaurant, theater, or an extra layer on a chilly day.

The Ladylike Trend for Fall - LBD

Holly Golightly Black Dress

Of course, the little black dress never ever goes out of style. Popularized by Coco Chanel a century ago, the LBD is a mainstay of every elegant woman's wardrobe. The LBD is meant to be a blank slate, adding pearls like Coco Chanel or opera gloves, sunglasses and a tiara like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's a canvas that you finish as you like. I love black and wear it often here in South Florida. But I always accessorize it here with either lots of pearls, or lots of gold, or colorful accessories to keep it fun and fresh and not funerial in this beachy area.

The little black dress is central to the ladylike trend that will be a big look this fall. I have put together some favorites. here.

The Ladylake Trend for Fall - Tweed

Hot Pink Tweed Long Sleeve Jackie Dress

With September arriving tomorrow, I am continuing with my series on the "ladylike" trend for fall that I cannot get enough of. Today I am looking at tweed - such a timeless classic. Very Chanel and very Jackie Kennedy. And tweed need not be grays and browns. In fact, this ladylike fall trend is focusing on pastels like pink, lavender, and mint. So I will be including some great pastel options in tweed. These colors are perfect for those of us in warmer climates.

Ladylike Trend for Fall - Leopard Calf Hair

Frances Valentine Leopard Printed Calf Hair Ballet Flats

One of my favorite ways to accessorize the "ladylike" look that is so on point this fall is with leopard accessories in calf hair. My very first Kate Spade handbag about 25 years ago was a leopard calf hair bag and it is still one of my favorites. And it is stuffed with the original tissue paper and dust bag! It is lined in red wool - so chic.

I have the matching slingback pumps too. I have rounded up some wonderful leopard calf hair accessories at many price points. The key to wearing leopard and looking like The Swans as opposed to sleazy is wearing one piece of leopard and I personally prefer accessories.

The Ladylike Trend - Bows are Back

Pink Bow Tweed Brigatta Dress

Earlier this week I posted on the "ladylike" fall fashion trend that I am so happy about. From all the feedback, I know many of you are as well. Another element of this look that I love is bows. Very Audrey Hepburn. Here are some great choices.

The Ladylike Trend for Fall

Tuckernuck

One of the fall wardrobe trends that Tuckernuck is featuring is "ladylike" dressing. "Polished yet playful, 60s-inspired, ladylike dressing never went away. This season is all about feminine suiting, little black dresses, skirts of all lengths, gold buttons, hair bows, and, of course, the lady jacket. We’re also seeing shades of lilac, pink, and pale green, meaning it is possible to wear pastel in cooler weather. Pair with cap-toe slingbacks or T-straps, oval sunglasses, and a top handle bag."

I love this look so much. Today I am focusing on the lady jacket, one of my favorite elements.
