Clarence House Flowering Quince, whether used as wallpaper or fabric, has become a classic very quickly. It was made iconic when the Costello bedroom shown just below the colorways was featured in Domino Magazine. Created by the brilliant artist and fabric designer Kazumi Yoshida, it is based on an antique kimono, but done in a freehand modern version to give it a funky fifties feel. Use the wallpaper in an entry, powder room, walk-in closet, breakfast room, bedroom, or framed as panels. The 100% linen fabric is wonderful for window treatments, a chair, or pillows. This is one of my favorite Chinoiserie wallpapers-Flowering Quince by Clarence House. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the iconic Costello bedroom featured in Domino, but I thought it would be fun to see the same paper in different spaces. The photo above is Lisa Borgnes Giramonti's (A Bloomsbury Life) Los Angeles entry. It is classic and beautiful, but also quirky with its bold bench, black painted door, red stair runner, and sheep. It was featured in Canadian House & Home. Did Canada invade L.A.? This Mad Men mid century modern bedroom in Denver is the work of Jeffrey P. Elliott. He uses James Mont night stands, Dunbar chairs, and a custom silk headboard to create this sophisticated Chinoiserie retreat.
