Heirloom Pumpkins in January - What????

CCC

First up, how much is that doggy in the window?

I  posted before in the autumn about my love for heirloom pumpkins both for their beauty and their longevity. I got all these celadon pumpkins back in September for fall and Halloween decorating. After Halloween they were still perfect so I decided to keep them until Thanksgiving.

After Thanksgiving they were all still in perfect condition so I decided to keep them for the Christmas holidays with their green palette, adding a pair of celadon lanterns.

Still perfect, they lasted beautifully through New Year's Eve. Then I took down my outdoor decorations and the pumpkins were still in fabulous shape with no soft spots anywhere. I couldn't bear to throw them out. This photo was taken earlier in January on the Epiphany before I took my Christmas trees down.

So they are staying for now, well over 4 months! So when you go pumpkin shopping next fall, keep heirloom pumpkins in mind. They come in so many colors like peach and gray and blue and green and I think they are all so pretty.
