Setting the Chinoiserie New Year's Eve Table

Phoebe Howard

If you will be entertaining at home for New Year's Eve, this gold and white table is such pretty inspiration. And if you are like me, you could use a change from all the reds and greens of the holidays.

White roses and hydrangeas make a beautiful centerpiece. My favorite element is the Blanc de Chine figurine. This is a vintage Fitz and Floyd piece. He comes in various poses - I have the set which is quite collectible. This piece is the hardest to find because the bamboo umbrella pole is often broken and missing.

This shows the other pieces -

I have a beautiful set of vintage gold bamboo flatware that would work perfectly. I found this on eBay a few years ago and love it. It was a brand new vintage set of discontinued Reed & Barton Gold Regal Bamboo flatware still in its plastic sleeves and box - eight place settings and six serving pieces. There was a serious bidding war, but I was able to snag it in the last few seconds. This flatware is highly collectible and I have never seen a brand new complete set. Sellers generally sell it by the piece. Lucky find. Here it is pictured below from the eBay listing -

And I would definitely use my AERIN gold sea urchin salt and pepper shakers -

A wonderful aperitif for NYE is a Champagne cocktail -

CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL RECIPE

Place a sugar cube in a Champagne flute

Douse it with 2 or 3 dashes of bitters (the classic is Angostura)

Fill the glass with Champagne

Garnish with a lemon twist

  1. Just gorgeous! I especially love your Blanc de Chine collection, and the champagne cocktail looks so very elegant in those glasses.
