The Blue and White Chinoiserie Dining Room

Thibaut

This pretty blue and white dining room features Thibaut's new Cumbria Mural and Greenwich Chairs in Campania Paisley. A collection of blue and white porcelain tops the table with gorgeous blue delphiniums. The table is however a bit too dumpster rustic for my taste for the room, nor would I have chosen that lighting fixture.

I do love the collection of blue and white porcelain. Whether it is blue and white Chinese porcelain, or Delftware, or English transferware, it all looks wonderful together. Flowers are great when doing a tablescape with blue and white porcelain to add height and interest. I love to use palm fronds from my garden here at CCC because they are tropical, free, and plentiful. They also last for months!

The blue and white paisley on the chairs is very pretty. Paisley is used today in a more exotic oversized block print way. Mark D. Sikes now uses lots of paisley in lieu of stripes. BTW, his new collaboration with Pottery Barn has lots of pieces on sale right now at great prices. Find the collection here.

  2. LOL - I concur with "dumpster rustic" and the lighting fixture:)

  3. You took the words right out of my mouth. The table has more of a Shabby Chic style. I'm not a fan of mid-century modern anyway, but that is just my personal taste. The light fixture does seem very out of place, but the wallpaper mural, the blue and white porcelain and the delphiniums are beautiful together. I don't know if you subscribe to The Well Appointed House, but their newsletter today is "Shop Chinoiserie Chic".

  4. Dumpster trash is more like it IMO for both the table and the light fixture. I disagree that either could be considered “shabby chic” since I do not think they would pass the style test of Rachel Ashwell, founder of Shabby Chic! The chairs and the porcelain are quite lovely.
